i bought some wheels that already had dunlop direzza z1 235/40-17 tires on them. one of them has a screw in the sidewall that cant be repaired. they stopped making the tire and i need a single, two questions, anyone know where i might find on in stock somewhere? ive searched online and no one ahs them in that size. that brings me to question two, i can get a Z2 in that size but i am wondering if they have enough differences that that will cause issues at the track?
If someone on the forum has one, maybe they will sell it to you or let you have it. I ran Ecsta XS in the front and Direzza in the rear at autocross before in my S2000 when I was moving from XS to Direzza and it was okay other than the fact that tires had different operating temperatures and behaved differently. If you were to buy a tire, I'd say get two and use it to your advantage. Z2s are a little more sticky from what I've heard so put them in rear if your car oversteers naturally or put them in front if your car pushes. Just my .02 cents. I just went through the same thing with nail in a perfect tire on used wheels so I feel your pain. Hope it all works out for you.
They are similar, yet different. Prob ok in pairs, but not a single.
