Rotors Warped Repeatedly
I must have something set up wrong. I spend a very significant amount of time on I20 in east Texas. Way too often, some idiot will pull out in front of me on the freeway in such a way that I have to stomp on the brakes and clutch, with the accompanying loud complaint from the tires, to prevent me from crashing in to the idiot who couldn't wait to pass the 25mph truck until the 75mph Miata 200 feet or so back in the other lane was clear. When this happens, my front rotors warp very noticeably, and from then on, braking from 75mph to exit ramp/rest area speeds is somewhat violent. Then I replace the rotors, and within a few months, I encounter another idiot.
What am I doing wrong that severe braking warps the rotors?
Thanks,

Interesting article. So my statement was wrong - not warped, just ruined. Looks like ignorance is dooming me to repeated rotor replacements.
Thanks, EricJ

That was a great read. Glad I enjoy bedding my brakes so much, as it pays off more than I realized.

Wow, how has that not been posted a million times in every car forum ever.
