Nope... it just means you can pull the fuse if you don't want it, but can't remove the ABS plumbing to save weight.

On a miata, there isn't really any reason you wouldn't want it, but more modern abs systems often can't be overridden or have very intrusive ice modes and such. Some even suggest doing this on my new Mini to avoid excessive break use/heating on the track, where the e-diff gets activated a lot.

Make sure that if you are buying a NA 1.8 that you could get it from the factory with ABS and an open diff.
^Don't think that existed...maybe as an automatic.
