The Londoner Pub & Grill, Rockwall, 22 June @5pm

The US will be playing Portugal at 5pm. Being at the Londoner while the US is playing is quite the experience. If you plan on attending, I would arrive at least an hour early. Parking is typically across the street at the bank (across from the big, old ex-church. There are other parking options, however.

The food is good, and service is fair (they just opened up, so they're working out the kinks but I've seen dramatic improvement over the last week). If you stick to the simple fare and beer, you'll be fine. If your girl (or you) love the fruity or ultra-popular-at-the-moment drinks then leave them at home or let them drink water/soda as they serve proper pub fare; whiskey, scotch, vodka, and brew. They have some very, very good stuff on tap, but it isn't a mega-brew house like the Saucer. They've got about 15-25 brews on tap, and they do sell the common swill 'beer' like Budweiser for the unrefined masses if that's your thing.

Their cheese fries are... amazing.

Their burgers are excellent.

They make a mac-n-cheese that's absurd.

There are many TVs, and even an outdoor area with portable AC. The pub is an amazing place; a great atmosphere. It's as close as I've ever seen to a proper English pub in the US.

MC, you calling Bud the swill it is makes me like you even more.

One of my coworkers plays soccer in an over 50 league with the owner of the Londoner. He is a real fan too. It is the real deal when it comes to pub and so is the Irish pub near it. I forget if they are on the same side or opposite sides of the street, but both are close to the Grape.

I stopped by with the Mrs. after getting the Miata aligned; I missed about the first 15 minutes of the Nigeria/Bosnia game. That was a strange match; I swear Bosnia was much more disciplined on the field, but Nigeria had more talent. Talent won. I'm stoked for the game tomorrow.

Oh, and we decided to eat dinner there as well again tonight. I'm not a fried chicken guy (or a fried anything, really) but the chicken-n-chips was absolutely awesome. And it even comes with a little gravy to satisfy the native Texans ;) I can't comment on the quality of the gravy as I didn't feel it was needed, so if it sucks, well, you'll have to tell me.

Hmm this is tempting. I'm done with work for the day and I'm hungry and thirsty. Haha

I listened to the game on the radio for about 5 minutes. I'm truly dedicated to the sport.

I ended up watching the match in the comfort of my man cave. Few bars have a better HDTV than mine and the beer was already paid for!.

Wait, hold the freaking phone. I finally get out of that crappy city and they open a Londoner there? Figures.
