For those that trailer to tracks, etc... how do you secure your car? I have a tow vehicle and car hauler but have only strapped down my Jeep. My straps are designed to loop around the solid axles. I thought about going through the wheels or control arms, but figured I'd ask before making a mistake. TIA
I just use the two hooks. I don't cinch the car down enough to lower the suspension -- just enough to keep it in place.
I have gone through the wheels in the past, too. The tow hooks are just easier to deal with.
There will likely be arguments about which method is best. Might as well ask about oil filters, too. ;)
I imagine. But at least hearing from a few that have made a number of trips w/o loosing a car will give me some options to sort through. I have some tow hooks ordered but have not had any in hand (nor the car for that matter) to know how sturdy they are. ThanksQuote:

I use the baby teeth on the front and the trailer hitch on the rear. And, as jrj512 says, I also don't cinch it down too tight.

I use Mac straps. The clasp is similar to those Ericksons.

Baby teeth come from the factory. If you don't have any someone removed them, and I'm sure you can get some cheap at your local wrecking yard.

What they said. I like to have a chain loosely wrapped over the rear subframe or axle as a fail-safe, just to keep the car and trailer together is something serious were to occur. The straps that capture the tire like on a uhaul are nice since rthey don't compress the suspension, but you need another anchor point on the trailer.
I loop my straps through the wheels ( 6UL's).
