Hey all,
a guy that is interested in my STO is asking about installing cruise control (after he buys it and before he drives home). So, anyone do an install or can recommend where it can be done (I'm in the lewisville/carrollton/plano area and work in addison). I told him I'd check into it here. Plan being, he buy the car, he pay for the kit, he pay for the install, he then fly in to get the car and drive home.

I'd talk to TDR or Ace Miatas & More in Lewisville. Both should have the know-how and parts, if its doable.
I've done it before...not too hard once you collect all the parts. Steering-column stalk and different pedal set are the keys.

The 97 might actually have most of the wiring already done, or so I've heard. The multi-switch on the column is easy enough to change. I have a 2000 multiswitch w/ cruise laying around if the plugs are compatible.
^I think anything at or newer than 1994 has the same complete wiring harness.
My 1993 had all of the wiring.

IIRC, a forum member bought a car in Ohio(?). He flew up, the owner met him with the car at the airport. He took the cruise control parts with him, installed them at the airport, them drove back to DFW.

NA and NB parts are different. For sure the stalks are different wiring. Vacuum actuator is different as well. Best to find NA parts. I think we may have a complete NA set up. Give us a call at TDR. I saw a thread on m.net that shows a harness on the driver's side of the engine bay. That harness had unused blue and white connectors. The thread implied that the OEM cruise needs the white connector. The STO does not have the white connector...blue only. For those that have retrofitted the OEM cruise, is that correct? White connector is required???

I know the connector on my 96 is white if that helps.
My 97 has the extra sensors on the clutch/brake already. So I'd say more than likely you are correct.Quote:
