It's a '93 1.6. Nox was off the charts in low speed test....standard is 1304, I registered 3761. High speed was better, but still bad - Std. 1179, Reg. 1977.
Hydrocarbons failed (barely) on low speed too - Std. 166, Reg. 176.
I forgot I had the timing bumped and didn't set it back. Could that explain the high NOx numbers?
Could it be a dead :cat: ?

I had a '92 fail in TX once. All I did was reset the timing run a can of seafoam trough it and viola it passed. Yes timing makes a huge difference.

Wouldn't hurt to pull the cat and look at it. Years ago, mine failed and half the guts of the cat were deteriorated. New cat, passed fine.
I have a near-new 1.6 stainless cat if you decide the old one has issues.
