Repacing carpet in my '99 this weekend, any tips?

I bought new carpet for my '99 over a year ago and I'm finally going to get it installed this weekend. I got the fitted kit from Moss with new under-padding. I'll be pulling the dash and going to town on cleaning the car before I put the new carpet in. Any tips/tricks to be aware of when installing the carpet or cleaning the HVAC system? Particularly interested in tips for cleaning the HVAC system...

Wonder if some sort of reflective dynomat would help reduce some of the heat that comes in around the transmission tunnel??

Isn't BR the king of dynomat?

I use a combination of dynomat and rolled double reflective insulation.
Dynomat is expensive and heavy.

If you are talking about cleaning the ac evaporator inside the car, Gabkwong has some experience with that. Believe he cleaned his 1999 NB's evaporator. He bought some special foam cleaner for it.

I actually used Second Skin Audio's Damplifier Pro, Overkill and also added Reflectix which you can get at the big box hardware stores.

I was pleased with the product. It's light weight, easy to install and works well.

I'll grab a roll of the reflectix stuff, thanks for the suggestion. So just clean the tub really well, spray some adhesive down and apply the reflectix, then more adhesive and apply the carpet pad on top right?

I don't want to add sound deadening because I don't want to add the weight, it is a pretend race car after all :)

I didn't use any adhesive. I suppose you could but if you ever need to take it out, mite be a PITA.

Hmm, OK. Did you only line the trans tunnel with it, or the whole tub?

I do the whole cockpit and use HVAC foil tape to secure it.

The aftermarket header doesn't have a heat shield like the stock down pipe, it gets pretty hot.

That looks like a good plan. I won't be able to do that this weekend, but I will keep that in mind. Rejecting the heat from outside the car would be my preference. We'll see how the Reflectix inside the car works.
