What's involved in reversing the coolant flow?
Real simple. You reverse the polarity on the water pump and it will change the direction of the flow.

If you are talking about the mod that they do on m.net. You have to plug the hole where the thermostat neck goes into the block and put the thermostate where the temp sender is. Then you have to run some water lines back and forth for the heating circuit. With the BUR's no heater core, it might be simpler. Most people do the mod with the head off the car, as it is a pita to get to that rear water neck
assembly.

I helped a guy (Eric, greyghost, Turbo Silver 99 if any of you know him) do some work on his coolant reroute. He had a custom cover done in the back for various temp. sensors (aftermarket ECU, so they were needed), a pipe for the heater core (not necessary in your case of course), and a pipe for the main coolant line. You also have to run a long metal pipe from the front of the engine to the back (or have a really long rubber hose). Since you have an M1, you also get to figure out what to do with the oil cooler connections.
FWIW, his cover was made so that he could take it off/put it on with the complete engine in the car. It was a very tight clearance and the cover had to be assembled in a certain order, but it was very do-able.
I don't care who you are that's just funny! :lol:Quote:
