Oil pump replacement - complete!
So three weeks later, my car is back together, shiny new oil pump and all. For awhile there, I was afraid I'd get thrown into my-Miata-is-in-pieces club with Bean! But it's back together and healthy again. Oil pressure comes up immediately on startup, lifters are quiet & I'm a happy camper.
Thanks RJ for the use of the hoist!
No obvious visible problems with the old pump, but like I said, the problem is gone. I also replaced several associated seals and gaskets, and I replaced the motor mounts, since I was in there.
I also replaced the the :cat: with a Magnaflow direct-fit, high flow :cat:. I thought the old one was rattling, and indeed found loose bits inside when I pulled it. The Magnaflow is a little louder and does seem to flow better than the 80k mile, 10yr old stocker.
In some ways, it was a fun project, and for sure a learning experience. Im glad it's done though, so I can get back to :drive: .
