Top is slashed, repair or replace?

Top is slashed last night :( , thief used the garage door remote to get into garage. Stolen couples of items from my dad's civic.

They also took the garage remote with them. Will changing the garage code be enough to prevent them to break in again?

Is the top repairable? If not, how much is a new top installed? Is the install doable by myself?

With that big of a cut, I'd say replace the top...

That sucks Alan. :( With the top cut that badly it will be near impossible to repair it. Do change the code on your opener ASAP!

Ouch. I'd turn that one in to insurance.

If you don't get it repaired by insurance, some have had good luck with salvaged top assy. Seems they are easier to install than just the cloth.

I have no personal experience with this.

That is a true statement. Claim it on insurance and upgrade to an M2 top w/frame. Very easy swap out.

I only have liability insurance on the miata, so I don't think the insurance gonna covered it. :(

Is M2 top with frame the easiet upgrade to glass window and it's DIYable?

Are the tops selling on cabrioworld all reuse the frame and hardware?

I do believe if the car was in the House (Garage) it is covered by your homeowners policy.

It was on the driveway. I guess neither of the homeowner or my renter insurance will cover it.

Yes.

You'll need a couple of rivets and you'll reuse the rest of the hardware. You may need new tensioner cables, it really depends on how the cables look when you pull them out from around the window area of the old top.

I had a OEM type (read: plastic zipper down rear window) Cabrioworld top on my 92 B&T. Fit just like OEM. I bought it from their eBay auctions and saved a little cash over what the web site charged.

OH Dude! I feel really bad for you. I've always feared such things. Especially with my garage door opener in my car.

Disable your garage door until you reset the code.

That's crappy that they took the opener. ::Rant::
