got a CEL and went to vatozone to get it scanned and they pulled up P0420, catalyst system efficiency for bank 1 is below threshold for the engine operating conditions. can any1 turn that into english for me, where i should start looking for the problem.
You need a new :cat:. If you have less than 80k miles, Mazda has to replace it for free.
I got a new:cat: but it came after the divorce. My Miata :cat: was replaced by the dealer at 35K.

I believe the warranty on emissions parts is 8 yrs / 80k miles, so as long as your '99 was delivered in '99 and not '98, you are good to go.Quote:
