I used some marvel mystery oil in the 'lac seemed to clean it up a touch, had some clicky lifters due to the fact it sat for about 23 years.
I read about running it on ATF to clean it out, but it scared me didn't want to have to get the motor rebuilt if the ATF caused a lubrication issue.
What is the problem with the 5.0??

Okay, I was going to use it in the miata too! I changed the oil in the truck, lately the oil pressure is acting goofy. When cold, and accelerating, it pegs all the way past the maximum reading. Let off, and it goes back to normal. After it warms up it doesn't do it.
Right before I was going to add the new oil I looked down inside and saw it looked awfully cruddy and sludgy. That's what got me to wondering about flushing it out and if the sludge is causing the oil pressure fluctuations.
Aha! Perhaps I should repost this under Second most stupid thing I've done. I did run Seafoam through it a few weeks ago. Samm's post reminded me that I never drained the oil after the treatment like the DIRECTIONS TELL YOU. The oil pressure problem started shortly afterwards and I completely forgot about it until now.
It still looks like it could use another treatment.
