Wheel pics from work

Here is the first P5 prototype off the 'assembly line'. I think it turned out pretty good. More designs will follow in the coming months. This one is an 18"x11.5" rear for the Porsche Turbo. I haven't finished the centercaps yet, but they'll be billet as well.

We're still tweaking on machining times. Its about 30 min per wheel on the mill. The lathe is much less exciting to watch and takes about 30min as well, but they can both run at the same time. Two sets a day is our goal when we're up and running but I think we'll end up doing more than that, say 10-12 wheels a day.

Price isn't set as of yet. We're shooting for somewhere in the $450-$650 ea. range. It will vary slightly with size. The bigger stuff is more expensive ovbiously.

The wheel pictured is an 18x11.5 and weighs 21lbs. It sounds heavy, but for wheels that size, its really not bad. I recently did about 4 sets for our racecars that were 14.2lbs each for a 17x8. We don't currently have plans to do anything smaller than that except on a custom basis.

Looks good. Very interesting work. You did the actual design work on these yourself, right?

I do EVERYTHING (except pay for it). The wheels are designed in Pro/E. FEA stress analysis is done in Pro/Mechanica and the NC programming is done with Pro/NC. I do all of that, from concept to machining. I even sweep floors. Oh, but I don't polish. We have some nice mexican friends we 'subcontract' that out to. They do great work.

4x100 is no problem. We haven't set prices yet, but if you're serious we can talk about it more, shoot me a PM.

Sammm, shoot me a PM. I've done quite a variety of stuff including wheels, brake hats, machine tool parts, engraved name plates (isn't a $90k machine overkill for that!! But its fun) etc.

If any of you are interested in custom big brake kits, please let me know. I've been dying to make one. I think I can price one VERY competitively with the willwood calipers. If you want brembo, AP, or Stoptech it may be more.
