Bought a new set of wheels today

Well i was thinking of getting a bike later this summer and i talked to my mom about it and she said there's a good bike shop down the street. So we went and this is what i came out with. Trek 4300. The total with a few accessories was 470 and forgetting that i drive a Miata, i let my mom drive the car and i had a 5 mile journey home. I forgot how fun bikes were and how weak my legs are. 5 miles and i was dying at the end but maybe thats because i had a soccer game last night and i ran 3 miles earlier today, and 2 hours of sleep doesn't help either.

Nice...we have a handful of mountain bikers on the forum. We should all meet at a trail somewhere and ride.

That would be awesome, are there any hitch attachments for bikes for our cars? well i need a hitch too...

Maybe Majik will chime in....I know he has one for his Miata. I haul my bike in the bed of my truck. ;)

Both Chris Klee and Mike Preston have bike racks for their Miatas. I just remove the front wheel and bungee the frame to my rollbar...

I would recommend getting a frame mount rack - I have a Stumpjumper FSR that doesn't work well with most frame mounts, but the trunk of a Miata is not big enough to hold a front wheel if you get a fork mount rack. I used to have a Rhode Gear Backpacker (2 bike, fork mount style) receiver hitch rack when I had my Miata. I had to fabricate additional brackets to carry the front wheels for mine.

Now I just stick my bike in the back of my wife's CR-V and give her the RX-8 for the day. :wink:

We should all get together for a ride some weekend. I'd suggest Cedar Hill or Northshore in Grapevine.

A proper rack also enables you to transport bikes for other people's girlfriends.
