You don't get the point very easily do you? Yes the course sucked for everyone, but not to the same degree and not for the same reasons. Even a bad driving day doesn't explain a 4-5 second swing from the normal gap at other venues on other courses. .5-1.5 maybe, 4+ not a chance.

Course style can make a huge impact. Why do you think some cars are very competitive in a Pro Solo format and not in regular Solo?

Because his car was in the meat of the powerband in 2nd instead of bouncing off the rev limiter 60% of the time. Plus it has a faster steering rack (15.8:1 vs NC 15:1) and larger steering wheel which helps greatly in the first tight box and pin turn arounds.

I couldn't shift to 2nd my in car. The car tops out 1st gear at about 42 mph. If I shift to 2nd at 40 mph I'm back down to 5,000 rpm and on the 1st cam with a whopping 107 ft lbs of torque. If I slow down a little bit to say 25 mph for the slow u turns I'm now at 3,000 rpm only to need to shift back into 1st and rape the rev limiter. The car is just geared where it's out of the powerband or out or revs everywhere instead of having one gear where it can pull from say 4,500 in the slow stuff all the way to redline. I was probably in the rev limiter not accelerating for a solid 2-3 seconds for the duration of each run or I could have gone to 2nd and bogged my way around the course.
