General Default, on the other hand, never picks up his trophies. He has so many, they just aren't important anymore. And besides, there's probably no more room in his trophy case 8)
Well they are trying to work a compromise out for the awards.
So if you show up you can still get something to look at until you get the big award. Joyce's e-mail address can be found on this page.Quote:

Y'know, let me save Joyce the trouble. She can just paypal the twenty bucks to "iain at S-two-thousand dot org", instead of holding it at the door for me.
I belive something may have been lost in the translation. :wink:Quote:

Is that the case???
Cost to run a season of SCCA regional events: $175
Cost to get in the awards ceremony to not pick up your trophy: $25
Still not getting your trophy after 2 months of waiting: Priceless
Sorry Ruth, I just caught that one... Good one :nutkick:Quote:

The trophies will be presented at the solo board meeting, and at the first event in March. We all know there have been some communication problems in the past year, and this is only one example. We are hoping to get the new season off to a better start, as well as mend fences with the folks who run Texas Region SCCA, which consists mostly of those involved in racing and Rally. They have heard our complaints and advise they really want to work with us. I also expect the solo organizers to present a more friendly and better organized atmosphere to play in.
As for solo event organization for the coming season, I think you will find it improved over the past year, and hopefully, the 3 runs and you're out format will be gone entirely. Some of you have been extremely helpful in keeping events running smoothly, and I hope we can count on your expertise in the coming season...
Thanks for your assistance in past seasons...
Anyone go?
I went, and it was a pretty good banquet. The certificates Phillip made up were nicely done on 8.5x11 card stock, using 3 or 4 different colors. Those will also be available with the trophies when you pick them up.
The speaker was a great guy, an artist who has been around racing since the 50s, and is a native of DFW. He has painted several famous race drivers and their cars, both still and in competition. Had lots of paintings of Carol Shelby, Bob Bondaurant, Phil Hill, and many others on a slide program, and gave an anecdotal account of each painting. One of the more interesting speakers SCCA has had to address the banquet in recent years...Bill Neale is his name.
The food was much better than the past also...
Sorry many of you missed it....
Was there fine print somewhere that said Bill Neale was speaking? Knowledge of things like that might draw a better crowd in the future.
Sadly, though, I had other commitments and was stuck being a good husband. Got to save up my tokens for autocross season.
