So, when does Wal-Flix debut?
Meh. We gave up on Netflix last summer. We were mostly streaming anyway, and their streaming content was crap.
It also appears that new subscribers can't get a DVD by mail only account. They only list the $7.99 streaming account on their site now, with a little blurb in the FAQ that says you can add 1 at a time DVD by mail to a streaming account for and additional $7.99 of $9.99 for Blu-ray.
Talk about changing a business model overnight. The Blockbuster bankruptcy is often blamed on their unwillingness to keep up with changing times, and it seems like Netflix is taking the lesson to heart. The problem is, I could see this driving customers back to Blockbuster, who now offers DVD and Blu-ray by mail for $11.99.
I was glad to receive the email from Netflix. It reminded me that I"ve had a disc laying by the TV for about 6 weeks. The last one was there for a couple of months. We have never streamed a movie.
I'm going to save $9.99 a month and Netflix won't care.
It's $8, who cares? people get more upset about Netflix increasing the price schedule by $8, how many of you are upset about a potential 4% increase in federal income tax?
I'm upset anytime I pay for something I don't need, want or ask for.
Like a land war in Asia?
Tollways...
Meh we coverted to Red Box when they closed the Blockbuster by our house. The selection is not as great, but you can reserve a movie online and just go pick it up. It's actually not to bad considering you don't waste your time looking for a movie they are sold out of. You can also search for a movie and it will tell you the closet box to you that has it. $1 a day and no contract so you only pay if you use it.
I cancelled mine this morning as soon as I read the e-mail.
It will be interesting to see how many customers drop by Sept 1st. I know we will be canceling our service as well. Looking on their Facebook page and on Netflix Blog none of their customers like it. If they were the only gig in town, I could see it but I think people will vote with their wallets and try alternatives. Some may come back but I think this is definitely a bad decision on Netflix part.
I've been streaming for 6 months or so... and will continue to do so.
Yea id probably cancel our account if I paid for it. I bought a refurb blu-ray that is still logged into the previous owner's netflix account. Haven't watched much from it because unless you're into van damme movies or 4 season old hbo shows, their streaming selection blows. The only blockbuster within comfortable distance shut down so uTorrent and redbox FTW!
I only stream, too, so no price increase for me...
Only been a few weeks since I have lurked here, but the Blockbuster comments seem to be on old information and since I still work for them I thought I would through my ::2Cents:: in.
Dish won the bankruptcy auction and has very heavily pursued getting people back to the store, to the online, to the By mail, and to the Kiosk. Check out the offerings. They are a new company.
Don't forget today is the last day of the old prices.
I just changed out plan to DVD's only.
We cancelled our account are are doing Redbox.
