I'm not sure I'd want my sister driving to BFE Oklahoma in a $2k beater. Find the best one you can. Maybe a small pick up truck would be best.

It's my sister in law. I actually care more about her than my own sister, but I'm not going into debt for someone else.
Hey Goofy, I noticed a nice looking 97' Blue Civic hatch (auto) for just under $3k up here in Denton. I'd be happy to go check it out. I bet it could be bought for much cheaper. Let me know if you want me to check it out.
Thanks for keeping an eye out. Unfortunately my inlaws continue to make poor choices.
They bought an 89 GTI.... that doesn't run, has rust and has a broken sunroof. For $2000. And they're not fixing it themselves, but took it to a guy they know to fix it (my BIL's reasonably mechanically inclined and ain't got shit to do so he should be wrenching on it himself).
And here I was going to just give them a good car once I found one (I've looked at a few that have been good, but with some other stuff the timing was wrong). So I guess close this thread (I'll create a new one in 6 weeks when they give up on the GTI).
