Front License Plate

In fact I saw that doing my research. It inspired me not just to remove the grill but to do the cutting you did and put it back in. Didn't know you were local. Now I just have to get the baby teeth in. Looks like that is a much bigger project than reinstalling the grill. <G>

I was pulled over 3 separate times when I lived in Tyler, 2 State Troopers and a city cop. got warnings all three times and was told by a cop friend that you really have to piss off most cops before they will write you a ticket for it.

I didnt have one on my Jeep either but I never got pulled over for that, the plastic mounting plate broke off when I was tooling around through the woods so I just kept it and the license plate in the back to show them it broke off if I ever needed to but I never did.

I havent been pulled over for it in the DFW area...yet but, neither has a buddy of mine with a 2013 Club.

Sec. 502.473 [502.404]. OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITHOUT
	[LICENSE PLATE OR] REGISTRATION INSIGNIA. (a) [A person commits an
	offense if the person operates on a public highway during a
	registration period a passenger car or commercial motor vehicle
	that does not display two license plates, at the front and rear of
	the vehicle, that have been:
	[(1) assigned by the department for the period; or
	[(2) validated by a registration insignia issued by
	the department that establishes that the vehicle is registered for
	the period.
	[(b)] A person commits an offense if the person operates on
	a public highway during a registration period a [passenger car or
	commercial] motor vehicle[, other than a vehicle assigned license
	plates for the registration period,] that does not properly display
	the registration insignia issued by the department that establishes
	that the license plates have been validated for the period.

So it is at the officer's discretion now as placement is up to the departments guidelines which at one time were front and back of the vehicle.

And in case you were considering the hidden plate I found this in H.B. 2741: Sec. 504.947. LICENSE PLATE FLIPPER; OFFENSE. (a) In this
	section "license plate flipper" means a manual, electric, or
	mechanical device designed or adapted to be installed on a motor
	vehicle and:
	(1) switch between two or more license plates for the
	purpose of allowing a motor vehicle operator to change the license
	plate displayed on the operator's vehicle; or
	(2) hide a license plate from view by flipping the
	license plate so that the license plate number is not visible.
	(b) A person commits an offense if the person with criminal
	negligence uses, purchases, possesses, manufactures, sells, offers
	to sell, or otherwise distributes a license plate flipper. An
	offense under this subsection is a Class C misdemeanor, except that
	the offense is a Class B misdemeanor if the person has previously
	been convicted of an offense under this subsection.
	Sec. 504.948. GENERAL PENALTY. (a) A person commits an
	offense if the person violates a provision of this chapter and no
	other penalty is prescribed for the violation.
	(b) An offense under Subsection (a) is a misdemeanor
	punishable by a fine of not less than $5 or more than $200.

I stand more or less corrected. I'm still not sticking a plate on my dashboard.

This part sounds like it's back to a fix it ticket and $10 or am I wrong?

A court may dismiss a charge brought under Subsection
	(a) [(b)] if the defendant:
	(1) shows that[:
	[(A)] the [passenger car or commercial] motor
	vehicle was issued a registration insignia by the department that
	was attached to the motor vehicle, establishing that [establishes
	that] the vehicle was registered for the period during which the
	offense was committed; and
	[(B) the registration insignia described in
	Paragraph (A) was attached to the passenger car or commercial motor
	vehicle before the defendant's first court appearance; and]
	(2) pays an administrative fee not to exceed $10.

That part (502.473) is actually about the sticker. The plate law is in 504.943, or somewhere close to that. So expired reg is a fixit + the 10% late reg penalty.
