People who are trying to sell shit don't act that way unless they have something to hide. Realistically he wants you there so he can hard sell the car. I use to work in sales and ignoring requests and pushing to close is a hard sell tactic.

True, I asked if I could stop by and check the car out this weekend but they are out of town, and its only available to today or tomorrow. They also told me hes taking it to a swap meet and it will be sold by next weekend.
Seem like a really nice couple, maybe I'm naive since I've never bought a car on CL. Sucks to know there are people out there like that :(
FWIW, I saw this Shensin on saturday when I tagged up with mike to pick up some used NA parts. The color combo is very striking. Pale dark blue over dark grey/silver. Very elegant on the sexy NB body. Yes, I said sexy...have you seen the curves on those hips?
B.
In sales that's called "creating urgency" which forces the buyer to make a quick decision. Just like one day sales or limited time offers. Every business uses it to one degree or another, but shady sales people do it to force the buyers hand. Unfortunatly craigslist doesn't always attract the best people, no oversight. Just be careful and verify everything when you buy.
I hate sales, that's why I left haha.
You might keep an eye on this site or call and see what he has available... seems to usually have some nicer low mileage miatas that might be in line with what you're looking for... located in Cresson.

Thanks, I will definitely keep a look out on this website!
UPDATE
So I finally got a hold of the VIN number and ran an autocheck as well as called Mazda USA today.
According to autocheck, the car has been in 0 accidents and the odometer checks out. After speaking with a rep today, I found that it is the R package.
So my question to you guys is: is a low mileage, mechanically sound (supposedly) miata with a fading paint worth $3000? Or should I wait to find a better candidate?
I like the fact that it's local since I'm not sure I could find the time to do a cross-country road trip, but I would rather spend my money wisely!
Yes. You should pass on it and let me buy it. :)
That price will not last long once people realize its an R-package. Worth buying, even if it requires a repsray down the road. Not too expensive if keeping the original color and the panels arent damaged. Talk to Rogue on this forum.
Ok! looks like I will give it a go! Hopefully I will join your guys' ranks soon!
And wow! I'm browsing funcarsforsale.com and they have really clean miatas for sale... I wonder how often they have these popping up
How did you get the vin?
Also, post pics!
Well I texted the seller, I will be stopping by next Monday since they are out of town this weekend. I'll keep you guys posted. Hopefully I will be in a Miata next week!
One more thing though -
I'm a little confused because the owner told me it has power mirrors but no cruise control which according to this PDF, is correct, however it says R package doesn't have power mirrors? Unless I'm reading that incorrectly. What does it mean when there is no circle in the box?
The Mazda rep told me that with the VIN provided this car came equipped with the Torsen LSD and Bilstein shocks
I easily found the Miata in question on CL. That paint can be saved by a great detail guy. It can actually be made to look really good. I had a red '92 that would look just like that unless you kept the paint maintained via regular claying and waxing. The red for some reason doesn't have a lot of clear on it and fades really fast. If the mileage is legit, you should snap the car up. Once you do, hit me up for the detail guy you need to go to. Expect to spend money on him, but expect it to exceed your expectations.
If you don't buy it, expect someone else on this forum to snap it up. Heck I'm tempted to snap it up, have the paint restored and then profit $$$$. If it's still listed next Tuesday don't think I won't. I'm giving you a week.
I'd make time to go look at it sooner I'm betting it will be gone by Monday.
I also found it on CL I'm betting it isn't an R Package car biggest hint is no rear spoiler.
