Is there much that needs to be done to the brakes on these cars? Is a pad upgrade enough for a rookie?

You will find that alot of us use OEM pads. Even autoXers. Some do upgrade pads, but that would be the most brake work you need until you really start to add power.

+1 .. OEM pads and fresh brake fluid. You'll be good to go AX!
