Yep, be there ready for tech by 7:30am.
I'll be there setting up about 6:45. I'll probably be out on course when you guys arrive. I hope to drive my Miata, which is a red 95 with Momo seats.
I'll try to find you guys when we get through with setup.
Maniac Mitch
I think I'll skip the breakfast meeting this weekend. But watch out for the coppers on I-30 just east of University - they got me last week, and I'd hate to see one of you get caught this week. :?
I think I've convinced Jon W. to help out as an instructor, since they're short on workers for Saturday. He's just got to get it approved by the wife.
See you guys Saturday morning - and don't forget your jacket! :shaking2:
Mitch - I hope you end up bringing the Miata. I'd love to ride shotgun on a fun run or two! :D
Iain
Would 7:00am get us to MW in time? IIRC it's about 30 Minutes from the Golden Arches Super Club to MW ..... :cry:Quote:

I'll be leaving email access at 11:30am today, Friday 3/5 until Monday morning. See you guys at MW Saturday morning!
Maniac Mitch
Thanks for keeping us "up to speed" on all this, Mitch. Glad to hear that volunteers came through! Guess we should probably pay our dues next year and return the favor.
I'll shoot for 6:30 at the Golden Arches. I'll try to remember a camera this week!
Sounds good. BTW, it appears that Professor Jon will be in attendance. Go easy on him - this will be his first time instructing. :wink:Quote:

BTW students....it is considered a very nice gresture to offer your car to your instructor *IF* he doesn't have a car to run for the instructor fun runs at the end of each day. Something to think about, no one expects it, but it really made my day several times! ;-) Oh, and I'll have my Miata out there to run...drove it to work today. It really is nice to drive it to work once in a while...for some reason I got to work in record time this morning!;-)
Maniac Mitch
Hmm... I'll have to remind my students of that tomorrow... :twisted:Quote:

Get out of your BOOSTer chair, and then see if you can keep up with some old man :spiderma:Quote:

MR PCA does the best school I've been to from the point of friendly folks, good food and fun
Woo Hoo!!!
No doubt! Awesome event. I am sore as heck. Must remember not to lie on the concrete floor cursing at the underside of my car for five hours in the days preceeding a driving event in the future...
No more schools for Joe Miata as he's too darned fast already!!!
It was a blue bird day and I had a blast! Great event, nice people and much fun was had by all! (even with the top up) :D
Did I mention that POS sucks! Thanks to altiain for giving me some very helpful instruction! Nice to meet gabkwong (when you're ready to sell that 'base' 99 you found, I'll give you $100 over what you paid for it!)
Thanks Tail, if you would step down to an '00 you could get some of those sport springs and 15" wheels....Quote:

But yesterday belonged to JRW :D . He must have learned alot in the morning because his times in the afternoon were competing for FTD  Great driving.
The school was super fun and the instruction was very good too. I would attend another one- if Tailchaser would let me...
Yes, it was funnnnnnn! Thanks Iain and Charlie for all the help! Iain was great and understanding, and Charlie was super.
I learn a lot on both days, although still not enough. The Prosche people really makes you feel welcome.
Iain, please send me the name, phone no. of the place to get the alignment. Also the spec. too! Thnaks!!! Charlie Davis drove the car also said that the rear end was too happy to setp out and the steering was toooo fast.
This is best $80 I ever spend on autocross. I am looking forward doing this again with the Porsche gusy/girls!
Gab
Gabriel, You've got mail. :thumleft:
Ironically, I liked the steering on your car - your car was very eager to turn in, and did quite well in the transitional manuvers. Unfortunately, the back end was a little too eager to come around and join in the conversation. :?
I had fun Saturday, although I'm sorry I had to cut out of there before every thing was over. As it was, I was still about 10 minutes late for dinner...
I hear Jon had a pretty quick fun run in his car without even bothering to adjust his street pressures. Looks like I'm going to have my work cut out for me this season! :D
Iain
My '02 was extremely willing to swap ends with the stock shocks. When I installed the KYB's, I was able to correct most of that tendency by running the back end softer than the front. However, that still left a strong tendency to rotate when entering a corner under braking as the back end was unsettled. A "proper" alignment (although NOT the one from Iain's recommended shop that came unglued within 100 miles every time they did it) helped again.
Adding the FM 1" front bar has made the car almost perfectly neutral in steady state cornering (with shocks set the same front and rear). Plus, transitional handling is much more stable, and the tendency to rotate while trail-braking seems to have been eliminated.
Which shop was that? I've been using Peterson's Automotive and/or DFW Frame & Alignment for years without any problems. :scratch:Quote:

Could you be a little more vague pleaze! How did it come unglued? Magical Fairies? Loose Bolts? How??Quote:

The first two times, the steering wheel came off center within 50 miles. The third, it came horribly off center during a BMW club autocross at Mineral Wells. Loose bolts, maybe? I dunno.

Just be careful once you go faster than POS... Then you'll have to start re-checking the dials on your KYB's before every run...
Quiet You! :wink:Quote:
