My tongue is bleeding from biting it so hard....geez. All I can think of is fireants. When one finds food, the rest swarm to get some.

What about the lack of respect this turd of a cop showed a stranded motorist? The cop's punk attitude is what initiated this entire incident in the first place.
If cops want to be treated with respect, they need to show respect to those they encounter. Period. When they behave like this, the forfeit any goodwill the citizenry may have for them.
T-boned in an accident caused by an illegal with no insurance and yet I had to produce my license. So did my passenger. Sure I could have escalated it, or at least my buddy could have, but to what end?
Next time tell them you're on your way to go vote.
Sorry Carazzie, I'm playing devils advocate here. I'm not excusing the cops behavior, in fact I think it was atrocious, however I'm stating that if he called for backup, it was probably because he expected things to escalate. I'd bet the first cop chilled out when his backup showed, and since the OP was already steamed up, the cop let him show his ass, giving the other cops the opportunity to witness it. Game over
Just for the record, they had 7 cars there way before they asked me for my ID. They only asked for my ID so they could go fishing for warrents, plain and simple. (BTW: I had none)
And believe me when I know I could have handled it differently. But when the first words out of someones mouth is you have a very small window to move your bike/car/ect. and then preoccupy your time and handcuff you so you can't do it. Just to prove that they can and will tow your bike/car/ect. and impound it. Yeah, he lost my respect the moment he opened his mouth.
And nowhere does it say I have to be nice and curtious to someone being a jerk to me.
But you're such a chill guy. Crazy story. Sorry this happened Mike.
Musta been your "I love Arizona" bumper sticker...
Arizona is the Hotness :-P
My thoughts exactly! I mean REALLY!? Sorry but I've been witness to harrassment too many times and even a victim of it on more than one occasion...one cop "threatened" to go turn on his camera, what he didn't know, my camera was already RUNNING! BUUWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! He was already busted for his lack of demeanor. Seriously, as tax payers, we PAY a lot of money for training these individuals to protect and to serve. I BEGGED my nephew not to become a cop, but he did anyway...a few years on the streets dealing with some nasty people will turn the BEST PERSON into a jaded one that will take advantage of the meek whenever possible to get easy vindication for what somebody else has done to them. Dammit...I digress....
/\ + 993 on above posts Mike. No malice with discussions toward ya. I've known you too long for that. :) Let us know how it goes. BTW, did you take notes and write offending officer's name down for reference. Also, a complaint may be time sensitive, so get it in soon if you plan too. Best of luck man!
Maybe we need to have some funds in our Lemons account for bail money...

heh. i'm somewhat surprised anyone knew what the hell i was referencing. i need to get all my books back, i loaned the entire set out... all the originals by frank herbert, and all the prequels and sequels by his son and kevin j anderson
There was a young guy on a sport bike riding a wheelie down south bound LBJ near TI at 6:40 pm yesterday. IMO, sport bikes have a bad reputation for stunts like I saw yesterday, and the police can't catch them. You were probably just in the wrong place at the wrong time!
I'm guessing that when the cop pulled up next to you while you were on the phone and told you to move it you could have said something along the lines of "taking care of it right now...thank you" , maybe even throw in a "sir" and that would've been the end of it. I doubt he would have been back that way for awhile. But as mentioned before, words can't be unsaid, as I know from personal experience. Good luck with your fight.
When I drive my rail I get pulled over all of the time. I never ask why, I have my insurance and DL ready for them. Lots of yes sir, officer and a little kiss ass has kept me out of jail. I've never gotten a ticket (knock on wood) mostly they want to make sure that its ligit. I have no problem showing any ID. I also support Arizona.

Talking yourself into being arrested. It's the easiest way to go to jail.
If you think you are even close to being in the right you better QUICKLY file a FOIA request for a copy of the tape from the police car.
That will prove if you are right or not. Even if you are in the wrong, the officer's attitude could still get him in some hot water.
True, cause smashing into innocent bystanders in a running gunbattle at speeds of 100mph while holding ten pounds of weed won't do it.

I bet if one of them had a flat tire on I-75 we would be reading a different story right now.
Drug dealers arrested after being let go after a gun fight only to be arrested later for having a flat tire on I-75..
DPD... Dumb police Department? Seriously.
Its a law enforcement officer's job to be respectful and and maintain calm. Anyone who's ever met Mike knows that he's pretty laid back and respectful and would not expect him to be in this situation.
With that said, never talk to the police. With questions like "where are you coming from," or "where are you going" come up your answer can immediately make you a suspect. Questions like this always seemed benign to me until I became a suspect in an "public masturbation" witch hunt. I matched a description of "white male in a white shirt with a black hat" and suddenly I'm informally detained and requested to appear in a line-up against my will because I have on a t-shirt, and hat among another 10-men who match the description. I never spoke, would indicate that I walked from the location of the alleged indecent exposure.
Mike could have easily fit the description of "a motorcycle speeding down the highway," match the description, and have a felony charge right now.
Police make their salary off creating arrest situations and are trained as vague questions and leading your response to generate arrests.
All you guys saying he's required to present ID need to confer with US District Court Judge Susan Bolton.
reminds me of these videos....

Funny you ask...it was actually a guy masturbating in a 2nd story window. The witness who was so offended could some ID him through a 2nd story window. It turns out that DNA evidence was collected at the scene and I'm not joking.
I eleduded the police to whack again!!!
Although a little over-the top its solid advice. On traffic tickets I take my chances but on something criminal I take this to heart. "Wrong place, wrong time" can happen to anyone. Don't forget the incentive based arrest MO , and that each time you confer with an officer his job may depend on an ability to cite or charge with to the fullest extent possible in order to generate revenue and obtain performance based benefits like new equipment and schedule preference. When its hot out, the police are tired, and desperately need an arrest to quiet the media...you'll probably fit the description and the media won't be there when you defend yourself in court or when you're acquitted.
If you were a cop and your boss told you that more citations and successful prosecutions were part of your performance analysis, and provided schedule preference, new squad car, and new equipment...wouldn't you arrest and cite anyone and everyone you could? Considering the "Great Recession", police are doing everything they can to keep their jobs and that means delivering criminal charges to YOU. That's probably why I have a 4mph ticket and a "changing lanes in the same motion as merging with traffic" citation. Hell, that's $250 for the court and city in about 10-minutes of work. That's also 2-points for each offense on my license and if I don't pay extra to keep it off my record I get to pay $350 per year to keep my license for the next 4-years.
Don't talk to the cops, its a trap.
Small update.
Apparently what those cops did was wrong because the city is going to give me my inpound money back; and lost days wages. I'm also going to hit them up to have my record exponged. There is nothing in the city ordanance that states they tow for flat tires, therefore they can't tow ANY vehicle for a flat tire if you are there.
The cop was a C**k Sucker and the next phase is his job and his pension, all seven of them.
I would not do what Miatamike had done but I do have no love for the cops. If they are here 'to protect and to serve', stop harass the good folks and go after the real bad guys! What they are doing is wrong and is not helping themselves with whatever image they have left!
an NWA song lyric comes to mind.... not sure If i can post it here......
"*#$% the police"
