1968 MGB GT anyone?

Know any MGB freaks? I found this one in Tony's Garage in Mineola, TX. Tony's Garage did $1200 worth of work to get it running and driving for the car's owner and he refused to pay the bill. Tony is trying to get rid of it and claims it runs and drives great. If you know someone interested. No affiliation, etc. (I have known Tony a long time and he does good work.) You'll have to find the phone number yourself.

Even if no one is interested, I love these old cars and had to post the pictures. Too bad I'm not retired.

Love to have this in my garage! How much is Tony looking for? I know it will be a $ pit ... but it is such a cool car that I have always wanted since I was in high school!

You know, Money DO buy happiness. If you disagree with me, just take a minute and look back on all those people ever told you that "money do NOT buy happiness", were anyone of them were filthy rich like Bill Gates? I bet you that none of them were!

Funny... I thought he would want to sell it for the money he has in it, which is $1200. Doesn't he have to give any difference between 3k and 1200 back to the owner?

Either Tony is not telling the truth or he hasn't driven the MGB GT more than 5 minutes. They never ran great for longer than that ;)

I once parked next to an MGB at a rally. When we started to leave, the owner tried to tell me there was basically no difference between his car and my Miata; the same guy designed them both. He was still grinding on his starter when I drove out of sight. I thought to myself, "Just like a Miata that won't start or run or . . ."

I'd still love to have the car and a truck load of money to keep it running for a while.

Guess it's not a $500 Lemons candidate...

There was an MGB at the lemons race though.

I've owned two MGBGTs. Both died on me, likely my fault in both cases. One had an oil pump fail and spun a bearing (after I noticed the gauge reading kind of low), the other had a ring fail (I was running hotter plugs, and the ring failed while accelleraating uphill on I-15 in Mission Valley in San Diego). I don't think the wife would let me have a third based on past history.

And it's a chrome-bumper year, too. Much more attractive than the later rubber-bumper.

I'd like to get another British car I had a TR6 in my youth and almost enough years have passed to make me forget what an total turd it was. ;)

NO..If you don't pay your bill and any storage fees within a certain amount of time, the mechanic can get a lien against the car and have a title issued. He can sell the car for any amount and keep the proceeds.

There were just a few rubber bumper MGB-GT's imported and quite rare.
I have only seen one.

Oh and I lived MGB's for 12 years before I got my first Miata.
Shortly after I sold all of them except my 1980 MGB-LE, which I still have.
They are great cars, with plenty of idiosyncrasies.


MGB-LE's were the last 1000 MGB's built before closing of Abingdon.
(not a pic of mine but they were all pretty much the same)

Somebody buy it and I'll give you $100 for the steering wheel.

Other than the paint, it looks like it has most of pieces, including that nice looking steering wheel.

There a bit larger than a Miata wheel. IIRC

Man, that is very tempting. I had an MG Midget for a while (1976 with the big rubber bumpers), and a girlfriend of mine had a... 1968 MGBGT! I'd dearly love to have one.

On the other hand, while that car may be "running" (I'm guessing that means it will roll down hill as you try to jump-start it :punchout:), to get that one fully restored would cost a ton. I'm not Mr. Goodwrench, so most -- if not all -- the work would have to be done by professionals.

But that would be one sweet car once it was restored, and best of all, it would "take me back" to younger dayz... :D

Are referring to the car or your ex-girlfriend? :D Do we not all want to return our yonger years and the ex-girlfriends! ;)
