Latest Android phones

I'm about ready to ditch my HTC One S, as it has reached the point of poor battery life and frequent resets in the last month or two, even after a full update/reset, which screwed a bunch of my contacts. But I digress...

I'm not interested in going back to iOS at this point, both for cost and because I've gone to a Google tablet, so I'm planning to to at least one more round of Android phone. I've actually been really pleased with my HTC One S for the past 2+ years. I'm trying to decide between the HTC One M8 (pricey but really nice) and the latest Google Nexus 5 (less fancy, but slick and cheap). I've ruled out the Samsung offerings even though I really liek the interface and quality/features, as they insist on making their best phones gigantic. I was happy with the iphone size factor, and this trend towards mini-tablets is not what I want in a phone.

Any feedback on either of the phones I've mentioned, or suggestions outside these? I'm sticking with Tmobile since its ridiculously cheap and quite sufficient service-wise in the 95% of the time I spend in good coverage areas.

If you're paying cash for a phone, why not look into Moto X? I've had pretty much every phone that is offered by T-Mobile or AT&T and the most stable ones are the ones with the least amount of bloatware. Nexus 5 would be my first pick but it is big and bulky and hard to hold on to. Moto X is as small as iPhone 5 with a huge 4.7" screen. You can customize one through motomaker.com if you want it to look different. Best part about that phone is the active display and voice features where it has 2 cores dedicated to natural language procession and gestures. I've sold 2 people in my office to Moto X. One switched from Sadsung and another from Sexus 5 :)

I got a Samsung Galaxy 4 which isn't huge for free when I signed up for Verizon. Had a Galaxy 2 before it with Sprint!

Also got a Samsung Smart TV, Samsung Tablet, and a Samsung Refrigerator. ::Assassin

Ditto, really convenient to use your phone for everything! Next is the washer and dryer controlled by an app. :D

Seconded. Great little device IMO, more so at current pricing. I have a friend who's happy with his Sony Xperia if you want a device from T-Mo.

Samson released a Mini version of the S4 last year, and they will be releasing an S5 Mini soon. I love my S5.

Moto X, 1st American assembled phone and here in Texas. One of the most secure Android phones on the market on is available on all major providers. Else the Nexus 5.

I just read that the MotoX assembly plant in FTW is being shut down. So much for that.

I'd say Zo... has the most experience with phones of anyone i know... and he's had the MotoX for longer than any phone I know of (seriously... like 1-2 days typically is as long as a phone lasts).

I liked it, but it was too small for me. I like my phablet.

I like small. I can't get the motox directly from T-Mobile, so that hurts it a little, but I checked the site and it looks pretty sharp.
Anyone have info on the LG G2? Its on sale, has 32gb and a 3000 mah battery, which seems worth considering.

T Mobile has the Samsung galaxy S4 MINI (4.3" SCREEN). You cannot get much smaller unless you get a Jerry Jones phone.

Out of curiosity, what sort of sale prices are you seeing on T-Mo devices? Everything I've found is "zero down XX for 24 months" which adds up to $500-$600. (Making the Moto X look pretty good by comparison.)

No, I'm already on T-Mobile. I like getting an interest free loan from tmobile instead of buying it cash upfront. The phones I'm considering are $16/mo, zero down. Same price point as MotoX, $375-400.

I love the fact that you can setup the phone to talk to you automatically when you drive. You can even respond to texts and all by talking back to it. It has very nice features for the price.
I've had LG G2 and the biggest complain was that it lagged a little, not as much as Samsung but it did lag. Low light pictures of kids looked like cartoon. HTC one and Moto x, both have very nice low light cameras and are super quick so I can take pics of kids before they move. I'm pretty sure you'd like it too once you try it out. Try calling them or chatting with them online, excellent customer support. First company ever to do advanced exchange replacement of phones if anything happens to your phone.

I have a Moto X, and I really like it. I miss having a keyboard, but there weren't any good blackberry/ android keyboard options. I like the Moto X because it's small, works well, was cheap, and isn't an iPhone. 'nough said. Come pick up the soft top from me and I'll let you play with my phone :burnrubr:

After working for Motorola for 15 years in telecom infrastructure (which ended 5 years ago), get a Samsung - or anything BUT a Mot phone! Seriously.
