Mostly moved in to the shop

As most of you know, I moved in to a place with a shop over the summer.

This is what the shop looked like the day the realtor showed us the house. What a waste of a great building!

It had no lights, so I picked up four 4' twin bulb T8 fixtures. The box said they hung from adjustable cables which I thought would be perfect for the high ceilings. Turns out they adjusted from 3" to 10", so I ended up making new 3 foot cables.

It really makes a big difference having light. I will probably add a few more at some point in the future, but it is just fine for now.

Being a metal shop, there was not an easy way to attach things to the wall. With the help of Creek, Nails, and Tailchaser, we made stud wall pieces that we inserted inside the steel wall structure, bolted them in, and covered in pegboard. The supplies ran $150 for 1 wall, so I only did 1 wall 4 now. I will eventually make it all the way around.

Nice shop. Wish I had one. Or more to the point, my wife wishes I had one so she could park in the garage. :D

Parked the front wheels of the Miata on it overnight... didn't do a thing. ::Rant:: I'm going to need to get someone with a torch over here to heat it up.

Is that a new lift you bought over in Ft Worth? I had my gagage extended a year ago so is 20 X 40 now but have not had the time to finish out the interior or do the wiring. A lift is on my list too....

The lift was a freebie, but it is in bad shape. I had to buy a new powerpack and hoses and am working on restoring the free half.

The light fixtures where $39.95 each at HD. Once I added the 8 T8 bulbs, the cables to hang them lower, and tax, I think I spent around $210.

Your going to need more then the 500 lbs of corner weight from the miata to straighten that out. If you want I can make a road trip and we can try the 2000 lb corner weight from my ram on it. :D

Unfortunately I don't have a torch and I seriously doubt a propane torch will get hot enough to help.

I have a portable (acytalyne ??) torch. I'll let you do the heating though. LOL The tip needs to be cleaned, but your not wanting to cut anything anyways. It will definately work for what you are wanting to use it for.
