The title of this thread is highly suggestive and inappropriate... for those of us who are married. :(
I've had I-N-O in L.A. and it's decent - about like Whataburger or Sonic. Definitely not worth an overnight camp out. Jake's/Keller's/Burger House are all better, IMO.
We tried one in Vegas a few years back...it was OK. I'll take a Chapp's burger over them any day!
Did you see the moron crying at the counter?
I agree in the similarity to a sonic burger (although I would place In-N-Out a little higher on the list. I found my one Whataburger to be horrible. IIRC, I ate less than 1/4 of it and threw the rest out.
I had a 5 Guys burger in the DC Airport last month and that was even closer (and slightly better) to In-n-out.
I love Whataburger, so I'm guessign you got a lame one. INO is not bad, and their special versions (4x4) are great for a hangover. I think DQ burgers are superior to all of these, depending on the location. Best burger in town for my $ is Adair's Saloon in Deep Ellum, but I was almost always drunk when eating them, so I could have a skewed recollection.
The burger I disliked and tossed was actually my second Whataburger purchase, as the first went in to the garbage after I discovered they covered it in Mustard after I said NO MUSTARD. Some day I expect I will find myself in a Whataburger with a group and will give it another try, but I won't go into one by choice again.
I too am a fan of a DQ Burger, but specifically just the Jalitos Ranch Burger. If I go to DQ, it is because I am craving Jalitos... much like I only go to Carl's Jr when I am craving one of their Wester bacon cheeseburgers.
It probably isn't fair to compare a restaurant burger to a fast food burger.
Every time I go to DQ, I'm inexorably drawn to the steak finger basket.
Had Smash burger today. Pretty tasty.
not InO cheap though.
They just opened a Smashburger down the street from my work; gonna have to give it a try.
I do not think anyone has ever eaten a burger at Adairs while sober. ;) Good burgers, though... I think. :drink:
I have eaten a few In-n-Out burgers and they are good, but good burgers are all over the place. There are several in this thread that are as good or better, plus many others not mentioned. I would eat another In-n-Out, but I am not going to wait in a long line for it.
It's like getting excited about a new chicken fried steak or BBQ. Good ones are all over this area.
In-N-Out is ok. I wouldn't go out of my way for one. My favorite drive through burgers are still Burger Street.
I had my first In-n-Out experience (rimshot) a few months ago in Anaheim. I set realistic expectations despite all the hype, and still thought it was quite good. But there are plenty of good burgers out there, and even the best I've had wasn't worth an hour-long wait, much less 4+. I've also learned not to expect 100% consistency from even the best.
Side note: I once heard that suburban in-town Whataburgers are so-so, and you need to be in small-town TX to get a good one. My experience suggests this may be true. (See "consistency", above.)
Growing up in Northern California, we didn't have much in the way of good FF burgers. When In-n-out came, it lived up to the hype because there was nothing like it. I could see how it is not as big of a thing to arrive here, as north Texas already has a lot of good choices.
Titus....this is TX...we eat mustard on our burgers...
And the mustard should be applied directly to the meat, not on the bun.
Sorry guys... mustard just doesn't agree with my taste buds. Nails, In-N-Out refers to that as "Mustard Grilled", but it isn't on the regular menu.

Had them a couple of years ago on the worst coast. Not good enough to warrent all the hype. Not bad, but like others have said, I would not go out of my way for one.
I've had In-n-Out burger several times. They are ok. I think once the novelty wears off, it will just be another burger place.
5 guys tastes better on the east coast than it does here. Not sure how one screws up a cheeseburger by moving it 1500 miles west, but they did. i'm still waiting for the InO in Garland to open so that there's one on the way home from my favorite mountain bike trail. Everything tastes better when you have a fresh head injury!
Anybody tried one of these in downtown Dallas? Saw it on the news last night.

When they came to Vegas, folks were jizzing their pants too (lots of Ca transplants). It was meh for me. Gimme a good White Castle dozen any day.
5 Guys > *.burger
I had an In-n-Out burger in San Francisco last fall. And, of all the burgers I have eaten, it was certainly one of them.
Well, I'm from California, and have always loved In-N-Out, so I'm looking forward to trying the one here.
I don't think anything could live up to some of the hype floating around, but they make one of the best fast-food burgers I've ever tasted, and at a reasonable price. There's a place in Austin that's a virtual carbon-copy of INO called P.Terry's. I'd put them on the same level. Five Guys isn't bad, but it is overpriced, and for the money I'd rather go to Snuffer's.
I do love Whataburger, but when they disappoint they really suck.
While all you suckers were camped out at In and Out............I was having a charbroiled burger at Del's ;)
If I was in LA, i'd be eating at "The Hat"

For the record, I'm actually looking forward to In-n-Out, as Sonic has disappointed me lately, and my preferred "good" burger joints - Twisted Root, JC's and Scotty P's - are a bit on the heavy side.
mustard on a hamburger and mayo on a cheese burger . I have no idea who came up with all putting mustard ,mayo and ketschup on one and then there is the special sauce and the lets pour this on here what is that
There are two places here in Midlothian that makes good burger one is hideout burgers and the other is DeeT'S
Marshall texas has a good whataburger
There is an old fashioned burger place in cleburne. You go in and get one to go by the time you get in your car the bag is wet with grease now thats a burger
i had to go to houston to pick up some stuff from my house since the new renters are moving in soon. my alternator died on my way to houston (buc-ees madisonville), but i managed to get a replacement in-town & installed it before i left. *i decided to treat myself after a long day.

Went by In-N-Out in Allen at around 2:30 yesterday and the line was still huge. I'll wait until the fascination dies down to introduce the family to an "Animal Style".
It's pretty good but not standing in line for any given amount of time good. There's so much good food in LA that I typically skip it when I go unless I need a quick meal. I'll go in 6 months after all the idiots that stood in line for 3 hours realize it was a giant let down and don't go back.
Go sell bottle water to the idiots in line. I bet they would pay $5 per bottle.
