Tickets went on sale today for the race NEXT May.
Too bad I have zero dollars. This is the race I really wanted to see. :(
Yeah I love watching that series so I may have to get me a ticket.
Link?
Thanks, any idea on where is best to get?
Maybe we should get a group going.
Anyone else?
I'll go but I'll do general admission seats because I'm trashy like that.
You callin' me highfalutin? :king:
Basically.
I am on the fence. I really want to see these, but I also really wanted to see MotoGP in April, Indycar in Houston in September and F1 again next year. Hmmm
Ha, anyone else like the cheap seats?

I might be in. Gotta decide if I can do v8s as well as the GP race. Turn 12 looks to be an action spot.
Bought my cheap seats so I'm in.
What section? or does it matter.
anyone getting turn 1 reserved seating?
Are you guys going general admission? I may get all irresponsible and buy buy buy after I check the NASA calendar. We get to walk the pits and all, right? That's supposed to be the deal with V* Supercar, it's cheap and you get to walk the pits since their people are taxed into poverty by the socialist government.
That track configuration looks awesome, can't wait to drive it.
All I know is NASA wants to get out there, not sure it will happen. I think the only F1-driven track in the world that doesn't get club use is Korea. The track makes money off selling tickets and concessions, not much else. F1 costs them more than they make according to every article I've read on the subject, it's the "vapors" they need to stay afloat. It will probably take 2-5 years to get out there, but it will happen. 300,000 ticket sales per year is not enough to keep the track open if you consider F1, MotoGP, and V8 supercar.
Supposedly the COTAS tour guides said the track will be open for "track days and driving schools". I'd pay $400 for a weekend, no more, to drive the ultra-smooth track.
So who all is going? Its the weekend after Propwash!
I want to go, but hear the hotels are stupid expensive.
So whats the plan?

I am a Tech official for the event Thurs-Sun. (Formula 1 folks coordinated and contacted a bunch of us SCCA Techs and got us to work the event).
The hotels are interesting to say the least. Several good rates around the Buda TX/Cabellas Drive area. 8-10 minutes from track (2 queen beds for $100) I found a single for $62/nite. 'Worker hotel' is $109/2 beds nightly.
Watch for a split rate with Sat. nite being higher than other nites of the week. Negotiate around this by calling the front desk and asking for a single low rate for all nights. Worked for me.
Best,
Paul
If you don't mind a tent here is a spot across from the track.

Ill be going, but haven't figured tickets out either. My friend Travis Wolcott is racing in TC class. I wonder why they call it V8 supercars and not World Challenge.
EDIT: I guess both racing organizations are there the same weekend? http://www.world-challenge.com/news/...php?story=2831
More bang for the buck.
I've got my ticket and from what I read there will be two races on both Saturday and Sunday with qualifying in the morning. Anyone seen an event schedule? Anything going on Friday?

3 Pirelli Touring Car, 3 GT3 Cup and 4 V8 Supercar races. Wish I could make it.
I'll be there. Got my Team Manager credentials, so I'll be in the pits for most of the weekend.
Got my GA passes yesterday. I think turn 5 will be the place to be.
I'll be in Tech-Garage 6
For Immediate Release - Brianne Corn will be driving James Wilson's TexasRallysport.com DustlessAir.com Mazda2 in the Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car B (TCB) races this weekend at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX.
Watch the races LIVE at world-challengetv.com and the later television air date on NBC Sports Network in June.
Please cheer her on and visit the Brianne Corn Racing facebook page!
Free tickets. Just received two sets of general admission tickets for all three days. Each day is an individual ticket so I have two Friday, two Saturday, and two Sunday. Good for non-grandstand seating (Grass...bring folding chairs). Can upgrade to grandstands for $20 (not sure about that)
Free room: (If i know you, MAYBE I Also have an empty bed and rollaway at hotel. Microtel in Buda TX)
So I guess if you can cover your meals, and figure out parking, then Austin is the bomb.

Paul

I will post when the tickets are gone
Pick up at will call
Tickets and room gone. That was fast.
Thanks,
Paul
Thanks again for the ticket and room Paul. It was a blast!
Had a great time and Brianne got lots of props for her composure on track. With a very underprepared car she managed a 10th out of 21 in the Touring Car B-Spec class in a Mazda 2.
