NTAXS Autocross #4, 7/16, TMS Bus Lot

North Texas Autocross Series (NTAXS)
Saturday, July 16
Texas Motor Speedway Bus Lot in Fort Worth, TX
$50/driver entry fee.
Pre-register at http://www.dlbracing.com starting July 1.
No on-site registration.

The event is limited to 65 drivers. Once the event reaches 65 drivers, you will have the option of joining the waiting list when you attempt to register on DLB Racing. If your entry from the waiting list is accepted, then you will receive an email with links to complete your registration and submit payment, but you must do so within the next 24 hours or the invitation will expire. Note that the invite will use the Eastern time zone.

You get eight runs at NTAXS events, so you will make four runs in the AM session and four runs in the PM session, with a lunch break in between.

8 AM – 9 AM Check-in, Registration, and mandatory Tech Inspection
(You must arrive in time to check in and pass tech inspection prior to 9 AM)
8:00 AM – 9:15 AM Course open for walking
9:00 AM Novice Meeting (mandatory if new to NTAXS events)
9:15 AM Drivers Meeting (mandatory for all)
9:30 AM First car out

Car Classing is based on engine size:
- Class 1/1R is for engines under 2.3 liters, except Honda S2000 and Lotus
Elise/Exige.
- Class 2/2R is for engines over 2.2 liters, but under 4.0 liters, plus Honda S2000.
- Class 3/3R is for engines over 3.9 liters, plus Lotus Elise/Exige.
- Class S2000 is only for Honda S2000 on street tires.
- Class X/XR is an open class for any engine displacement and induction.

Rotary engine multiplies displacement by 2.0. Usage of forced induction multiplies displacement by 1.5. (This is in addition to the rotary multiplier, if applicable.) Tires with a wear rating under 140 must use the R class.

I want to go, but how do you guys manage the heat? With no AC and no tow vehicle it's brutal, and the last event I attended I actually burnt my hands on the black interior. Cool shirt system? Bring something to cover the car? Maybe pop out the passenger seat and throw a big cooler there so I can dunk my head in some ice water every hour or so?

It does suck to have no AC for the ride home, that would be the worst part. How much weight are you saving by pulling it out? Is it worth the pain?

That said, get in shade whenever you can, drink plenty of water, use plenty of sunscreen. Put your top up and use a window shade when you're not driving.

Wear a speedo and lots of sunscreen. KenO will appreciate that.

The A/C wasn't working when I purchased the car (not much was) the system was dry and I suspect the compressor was shot from being run with a dry system, so rather than spending time and money fixing it I just yanked it. Made that decision in during a cooler month I suspect.

No AC in my car either. I keep the hardtop on if I'm not running with a sun visor in the car. If I'm in grid waiting to go, I keep a towel over the seat/wheel (no soft top). I use driving gloves, so my hands are usually ok. For sure drink plenty of water. Drink a full bottle of water after every time you pee. If you're not peeing, you're dehydrated. TMS has showers on site, so I bring a change of shirt and stick my head under the shower faucet before I drive home. It's pretty refreshing.

Yeah, I had the same problem…….I put a can of freon in and its been working ever since.
Compressor will not engage if Freon is low.

We'll find you someone if you want an instructor. I would volunteer, but I tend to be busy running the show.

Saturday's autocross is full, but the waiting list is available. Just register on www.dlbracing.com as you normally would and it will add you to the list. If selected, you will receive an email with payment instructions for finalizing your registration within the next x hours. Note the the times on the email are Eastern. We tend to get though most of the waiting list for each event, so do not let it discourage you.

Fvck a bunch of martha fvckers! My [neglected] ride is not fit for the trip, so I'm going to have to miss another friggin' event. Please give my spot to someone else more worthy...

Super late post for those going to the NTAXS autocross at TMS tomorrow. Here is the run/work order. Reminder, bring plenty of sunscreen, big ass hat and drink plenty of water. You do not want Jerrett packing ice under your armpits and crotch if you overheat. You've been warned! See everyone tomorrow!!
