Hey guys, what would you recommend in 195/50/15 size?
I am looking on onlinetires,edgeracing,and tirerack and there just arent that many to choose from.
The problem I am having is the car feels completely different from the 205's now and the 195's before. I feel like there is much more slop in the steering and I don't like it at all.
the balancing issue is fixed.

The shaking was two tires were out by 3/4 of an ounce and one of the rear tires had to be rotated 180 degrees, it's much better now.
I am not so sure its just tread squirm, I think it may be a combination of that and them being just a taller tire, before.... if I moved my hand in any direction on the steering wheel the car would just dart in. now I can move my hand in an area 6 inches across the wheel and it dosent move just shake the rear end of the car.
I have lost a lot of the confidence in the cars ability to dodge things in the road due to this, I guess I just need some more seat time with these tires.
Did you get a 'less-agressive' alignment this time? That could explain some of it.Quote:

Hey Billy! There is only a slight difference between those two tires. The side wall on the 205 is only 2/10th" taller, so they will flex a bit more, but not what you are describing. I don't know what the tread blocks look like on those tires, but what you are talking about sounds like squirm. My bet is that the big difference is a combination of tires, wheels, and alignment. You have new wheels, right? Are they the same width, same offset, same weight? How can you be sure if the alignment is the same if each was done at different places? I would look at both of those before blaming the tires. If it is the tires, it will get better if you give them some time and miles......
That said, I've always been more comfortable with the 195-50/15's :)
well I have the printout from the allignment and its the same as before, I think the wheels are half a pound heavier than the Konig Kolors the tires however are 4 pounds heavier than the ES's.
the wheels are the same size as the Konigs too 15X7.
I will get some more seat time in and hopfully they will get better.
How many miles do you have on them now? Maybe they're not scrubbed-in yet. :confused:Quote:

wheel offset COULD make a huge difference (bump steer).
I thought that hubcentric rings took care of any wheel offset.
Is that not right?

I also didnt like my Khumo Ecsta MXs when they were new. I had just come from some nicely worn azenis. It took a few hundred miles of slipping and sliding before they really started gripping.
I spun out (an event that a few here might remember ;) ) on "fresh" Azenis 215's, even though I drove nearly 300 miles on them before the drive to try to break them in.
Great... got my Kumho's today... hopefully I'll get them scrubbed in before Saturday. I took a "spirited" drive up to the barn tonight on some nice twisting country roads and they seemed to have good grip...Quote:
