I just got hooked on to Morcheeba - Who Can You Trust?
Very funky. Kind of a cross between the 70s twang found in some Beastie Boys tracks with a Lucious Jackson kind of vocals.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Monty are I
Flee the Seen
Sullivan
Lorene Drive
Chasing Victory
I love little punk/emo bands that nobody has heard of. I've seen all these people out here.

Cool thread!
Morcheeba's pretty cool, love the track Public Displays of Affection. black roadster You'd probably like the following then:
Saint Etienne
Lamb
Portishead
Experimental Gothic Folk ambient whatever genre:
Delerium my all time favourite artist
Conjure One
Dead Can Dance (did soundtrack to Baraka and work on Gladiator and Ali soundtracks)
Mediaeval Baebes
Enigma (you've probably heard his works on many soundtracks, etc.)
Deep Forest
Front Line Assembly

Trance & Chillout
Laurent Véronnez (aka L-Vee, Fire & Ice, Airwave, Lolo, Altitude, Cape Town, Green Martian, Meridian, Planisphere, Skyline, Yamakasi) my favorite electronic musik producer...and most of the names he's released records under
Gabriel & Dresden (badass progressive trance/house dj's and producers; do a lot of cool remixes of classic rock and oldies etc. They played a badass remix of Pink Floyd - The Wall and an REM song the other night at the Lizard Lounge for a rare Dallas apperance!)
Blank & Jones
Cosmic Gate
Way Out West
Tiesto (aka Allure, Kamaya Painters, Alibi, Major League, Clear View, Vimana, Gouryella, Hammock Brothers; reining world's best DJ & incredible producer)

Ferry Corsten (aka System F, Moonman, Vimana, Gouryella; another top 5 dj)
Solar Stone
Chicane
Markus Schulz
Okay, some of you are probably looking at all those alias' and are like,"WTF mate?" Not sure why but a lot of electronic musik producers use different alias' for certian "projects" that they release a record under. Sometimes many records released under a name and sometimes just one!
Israeli psy-trance/ambient/weird shit (kinda like trance or techno with metal guitars often mixed in...pretty cool)
Yahel (another of my favourites)
Astral Projection
Infected Mushroom
Eyal Barkan
DJ Assault - Ass & Titties
Going along these lines you might also like:
Kosheen (slow mellow kinda like Delerium)
Hybrid (a little more ambient than Delerilum)
Lately I have been listening to:
Saul Wiliams (spoken word hip-hop)
Faithless (trancy club)
Other bands you guys probably haven't heard of:
Myphix (small rock/metal band from Killeen, TX)
Red Team Go (small punk band from Killeen, TX)

Music we have in common:
Delerium
Enigma

Sasha & John Digweed (the Northern Exposure albums rock)
Infected Mushroom
I'll probably add some more bands/artists throught the day as I think of them.
Mr. Bungle, headed by the former lead of faith no more, really out there
Ya, I could go on for days trying to list all the EDM musik I love! Pretty cool, you're the first I've meet who even knows who Delerium, Deep Forest or Front Line Assembly let alone listens to them! I see you didn't include Conjure One in the list of musik we share; you should check them out, its the solo project of Rhys Fulber from Delerium and Front Line Assembly.
What year is that Tiesto dvd? I don't have and have not seen any of the dvds of the good sets from Europe. I did get to hang out with him in New Orleans after a set for say 20 min and have an uber-rare record signed! I may have to borrow that or come watch it sometime.
So did you make it to the Lizard Lounge this past Friday to see Gabriel & Dresden? You missed out if ya didn't. Got a quick chat with Josh Gabriel and got him to play Wave 3! (his first signed production from say 10yrs ago that got him discovered)::Banana::
Also, check out Yahel and Astral Projection if you like Infected Mushroom... they've also done work together before.
Deep Dish is a great mellow, club/disco/dance artist many would like. Was listening to them earlier today.
Wait, there's a punk band by the same name?:punchout:
Oh yeah some awesome local rock bands:
Josh Goode Band (I believe these guys were up for some big award or something)
Miser
Auto Escape
Minority (15-16 yr olds but they kick ass, drummer played probably the best drum solo I've heard and I've been to some nice concerts like Summer Sanitarium and Edgefests!)
You've met me.
I listen to Delerium, Deep Forrest, and Enigma. I haven't hear Front Line Assembly but I'm sure I'd like them. I tend to refer to it as World Music as it has a global sound. Sounds form all different cultures.
That stuff is good music when getting frisky... ::Naughty:
As far as getting frisky goes, a nice CD is Crystal Method "Vegas". :thumleft:
Oh Gatecrasher came to mind. The "Latitude & Longitude" album is pretty nice.
And yes I did miss Gabriel & Dresden :( , but I did go to Lizard Lounge to see Freaky Flow a couple of months back. And I usually go there for the Planet of the Drums concerts to see Dieselboy, Dara, and AK1200.
I like a lot of stuff, but I hate Hot Chip. Maybe one of you can explain it to me.
I got hooked on KEXP.org out in Seattle. Great commercial free listerner powered station.
As far as bands go...
Jason Webley http://www.myspace.com/jasonwebley
They Might Be Giants
Mountain Goats
My hookup for streaming stuff is www.di.fm Trance/Dance/House/GoaPsy/etc...

I own, or have aquired just about anything with Sasha's name on it, & most of Digweeds stuff. I saw them at the Bronco Bowl bowl on their Delta Heavy tour back in the day & I have seen Sasha once by himself & Digweed twice, shook Digweeds hand & got a picture. They dont come to Texas very much so anytime theyre anywhere close to here, my bank account is empty.
I have been revisiting all of the old Massive Attack lately. I saw them when they were at Nokia Live 3 weeks ago, definately the best show Ive ever been to, also their first tour to come through Texas.
I have tons of underground electronic stuff...
ATB
A Guy Called Gerald
Ben Watt

John Digweed/Bedrock
Lee Burridge(Saw him with Sasha/jimmy van M at the Bronco bowl)
Massive Attack

Plastikman
Portishead

Sasha (If your into electronic music, check out some of his studio stuff, he's been cranking out some absolutely amazing music lately, totally unique, the sound quality & depth is unreal)
Stéphane Pompougnac (A Frence electronic jazz DJ, great stuff)
Thievery Corporation(probably my all time favorite artists, an odd blend of jazz/reggae, with a heavy indian influence)
Zero 7
Almost everything under the Renniassance label
These are just some of my favorites, there are much more that I cant remember off hand.
As far as jazz/blues/rock/anything else is concerned, I couldnt list all of my favorites, but since growing up with musicians, you could say I like or own anything popular and respected by the 'musician' crowd...I only listen to CDs & Talk Radio, pop rock is for the birds.(with some exceptions)
yeah... if u like John Digweed, there is a compilation series you should check out called "Euro Club Hits" --
it's pretty clear that dance music is coming back around the world -- just check the recent big American hip-hop and R&B hits which are clear rip-offs of the european dance style.....
here's the direct iTunes link to the "Euro Club Hits" series.....

Tiesto is probably my favorite out of the trance crowd. Cosmic gate has a LOT of very, very good songs too.
Istanbul (not Constantinople) was the first song I ever heard from them, and I still listen to it all the time. I had almost every album they ever made at one point.
I love Alive by Fragma.
I don't talk to many people about music, so I'm not exactly sure what's "mainstream" and what's not any more.. a typical MP3 CD of mine will include heavy metal, punk, emo, pop, country, rap, techno, trance, 80's, Celtic, almost everything.
Pandora internet radio is a VERY good source of music you've probably never heard... I've found a LOT of music on there that I love.
Remember, I don't know if these are obscure or not, but I like them ;) And I tend to be very loose with my genres because I'm tired of the stupid sub-genre thing that is getting ridiculous (thrash metal emo punk doowop).
Metal
Kamelot
Rhapsody of Fire
Nightwish
Dragonforce (not really under the radar here any more because of Guitar Hero 3)
Edguy
Electronic Pop (?)
Echo Image
Beborn Beton
Hellogoodbye
Pet Shop Boys
Covenant
Permer
Pulp
Casiotone For The Painfully Alone
Nitzer Ebb
Sally Shapiro
The Human League
Joy Electric
Techno/Trance
ATC
Cascada
The Riddler
Milk, Inc.
Angel CIty
Punk
Allister
Celtic (all types)
Enya (BEAUTIFUL voice)
Shane McGowan
Tempest
Flogging Molly (I have every album)
The Fenians
The Real McKenzies
Enter the Haggis
Black 47
Levellers
The Waterboys
Paul has another Dallas date in the near future. May 16th at Lizard Lounge. Anyone going??
One of my personal favourites for sure. Played Arcadia in the late 90s...you know, before the place burned down. :(
Preferred the guitar-driven industrial sound pre-'Hard Wired'. Newer releases are, in large part, like a dark version of Conjure One. Guess that was obvious considering the personnel involved.
More FLA side projects. Both outstanding, though I have yet to actually find copies of any Balligomingo releases (a friend has two, though).
Remember when they had a commercial single in the mid-90s? Out of character, but a good album nonetheless!
I might as well throw in a few for grins. They aren't grouped by genre, though...
Godflesh
Skinny Puppy
Front Line Assembly
Prescott Curlywolf
Curve
Bad Religion
Big Sugar
Califone
Yo La Tengo
They Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
Catherine Wheel
Galaxie 500
Foreskin 500
Warlock Pinchers
Dropkick Murphys (excellent rendition of "Fortunate Son")
Godspeed You Black Emperor
Junkie XL (either as DJ or as band w/ Rude Boy on vocals. Saw the band at Deep Ellum Live & looooved it! Saw a DJ set at Lizard Lounge a couple of years back & loved that too!)
Urban Dance Squad
Bosstones
Lagwagon
Pop Will Eat Itself
Praga Khan
Sunset Valley
Uncle Tupelo (& their offshoots, Wilco and Son Volt)
Not to offend you guys or anything, but...
When people see you guys in your Miatas and you're bumping all that electronic/techno, they think you're gay. People already think Miatas are sissy little girl cars and you guys aren't helping the situation at all. Might as well paint your car pink, slap a decal of a unicorn on the hood, put a disco ball in it and get a rainbow patterned license plate frame.
And to imagine that even with all that, I still don't give a flying crap what people think about me and my car... ;)
If you're that worried about what people think about you, you should never leave the house. Someone will always have a bad opinion of you no matter what you do.
Know where I can get one of those unicorn decals? I've been needing to replace the Hello Kitty sponsorship logos for a while anyway...
::Banana::
If someone thinks that they're obviously a complete moron. So why would you want to spend time with them, talk with them, or even be in their general vicinity for longer than it takes to pass them?
Real people don't care what kind of car you drive unless they're into cars for fun, in which case they'll know why a miata is fun. Anyone that makes the kind of assumption you mention above is essentially a waste of air and skin.
Hows about camo paint, a Rebel flag and a Texas Hunters sticker for ya? Would that make it better? I could care less what mainstream, ignorant Americas think about the music I listen too. I'm sure they think the same thing when I'm rolling to Bach, Ravel, or Beethoven! The only times I've ever had a negative reaction to my car is from some racist, redneck with an IQ of 40.
Suprisingly I've had more attention in my Miata than when I used to drive my friend's Viper. So, not everyone thinks of it as a gay sissy car! I was never flashed by a hot chick while crusing in his Viper, but have in my Miata! ::Banana::
....yeah -- i agree, people are basically getting sick of the same old rock/hip-hop/r&b bullsh*t..... and there is just this big upsurge from a new style coming out of Europe -- best place i've found it so far is a compilation series called 'euro club hits' on itunes -- or check this link: http://electricfilebox.com/tracks
:drive: :burnrubr: ::BaHump:: ::Banana::
