Back to your muscle car roots!!! I like it!
:burnrubr:
good luck, looks neat. expensive, but fairly unique.
Nice!!
Can't wait! ::Banana::
Bahaha, a buddy and I are planning that already :D
Except we're thinking about a turboed LS7. I'm so dead :(
If you're going to start with an LS7 crate engine, you're either made of money or haven't done your homework. An LS7 will set you back $12-13k brand new, compared to roughly $7k for an LS6 (405 hp C5 Z06) or less than $6k for an LS2 (400 hp C6 Corvette "base" engine). For the price of an LS7 you could build an LS6/LS2 up to ridiculous power levels before even adding forced induction.
Just my $.02
Or you could go with an LS-1 so you could use the Racing Concepts kit and avoid having to fabricate your own parts.
I'm not a big fan of the V8 swaps. Just sell the miata and go buy a used vette.
I'm a Mazda fan, I kinda like the way they built the cars. All they need is a little forced induction. ;)
Yea, I'm with you, seems like an awful lot of trouble, when you could just buy a used C4 or T/A for relatively cheep.
That said, I've got a buddy that has some LS-2 engine, tranny, and ECU, and harness setups that he got from a train De-rail of GM cars. He works at GreenLeaf Kennadale, and I think he said he had them for around $5500, maybe less. He can also recommend a shop that will customize the ECU for any use, for a slight fee.
TD
Whoah, I didn't know they were making a kit for the LS1 now... that's a new possibility then.
I mentioned the LS7 because he's about to come into some money. Serious money. We both want to make a crazy Miata even though he's a F-body guy :D
The LS1 swap is getting more and more popular with FD RX-7's and 240SX's. Another popular V8 swap is the Toyota Soarer V8 swapped into an AE86 Corolla.
If that's the route your going with your car DD then that's cool.
Your not going to be able to put turbos on one if you've ever seen an LS1 swap. And IP the whole idea is to have something that not EVERYONE has. No to won't handle as good as a miata but it will spank the crap out of just about anything on the road and still will handle.
Oh and P.S. the car in that video is the car from Racing Concepts
So let's go and put a Chevy(Isuzu) duramax diesel engine in the car and get tons of torque and better fuel economy. ;)
