Thread: Bad master cylinder

    Default Bad master cylinder

I am sure that either I have a bad master cylander, a bad slave cylander, or a leak in my clutch line. The guy says that its not under warranty and I will fight with him about that, but what is the worst case scenario? Will I be dropping an extra grand on this thing? Sorry for the noob question, but I just dont want to be taken advantage of. Thanks guys!

It depends on if you pay someone to do the work. Its not that difficult of a task to rebuild a slave or master cylinder. Maybe 2-3 hrs to rebuild both @ the cost of the kit maybe $50 in parts. If you pay someone it might be $300 bucks to fix both. Just guessing though
    Blah blah blah!

How would it be covered by warranty was it recently repaired??

Chances are pretty good it's a bad slave. Move the boot and if it leaks on ya ya need to rebuild or replace it.

If your not wanting to work on it on your own maybe it's time for you to contact Rogue at Miata Solutions. (http://www.miatasolutions.com/)

Just go to O'Reilly Auto and order the replacement slave cylinder and buy some pizza/drinks and someone will come over and replace it for you. It's less than a 30 min job.

9.5+ times out of 10 it's the slave cylinder.

Maybe we could turn it into a tech day... my Integra needs a BMC and Midas quoted me about $250 for replacing it

I gotta learn to quit being such a about doing my own work.
