If the cat is faulty, more than likely so is your o2 sensor, change them both if the cat's internals are falling apart.

Not sure, the muffler shop said the cat was fine just crappy. Makes an exhaust leak/rattle sound at certian rpms. I hope its not going out yet. I was planning on getting a good one when I buy a header in a few months. I can't afford that right now since I'm buying POS's wheels tomorrow and about to buy a new top! I'm all out of now!

Looking at the Magnaflow website, it looks like the only direct fit they have for the '99 has an A/T in the description field. I assume this means automatic transmission? So does this mean don't have a direct for for the manual tranny Miata? Surely I'm looking at this wrong?

Before I'd take the word of someone on an internet forum I'd contact the manufacturer of the part in question, but that's just me.

if you're not worried about class mods, then just pull the o2 sensor. Jason at enthuza has nice "bullet" cats that he's tested on a dyno with a 2hp drop over catless.

I ended up buying a cat from Eastern Catalytic. I'd have rather had a Magnaflow, but I called them and they said over the phone that they didn't have a cat for a '99 Miata with a manual tranny (bolt-on or universal). Seems strange, but that's what he said. I had a friend weld on the new cat last night and I cleared code this morning before work, 50 miles and the CEL hasn't come on yet, so hopefully this got it.

    Thanks for everyone's help.
