Default Texas A&M Sports Car Club Fall 2007 Auto-X III Sunday 10/28

Okay, it’s time for another road trip. Who all is interested in heading down to College Station for an autocross on 10/28? The event is at the Riverside Annex.

More info at DLB Racing or the Texas A&M Sports Car Club page.

I was thinking that we could meet at 7 AM at the Golden Arch Café in beautiful Hearne, TX on 906 S.Market (Hwy 6). Their dining room open at 6 AM -- I called.

I do not see a Tire class, so we will just have to run in normal classes.

    Who all is in?

I don't think any Red Raiders are welcome in Aggieland for a while. . .

I did an event with RRR earlier this year. Great folks. Great event.

If you think Mineral Well Air Park is out in the middle of nowhere, wait till you see Red River Raceway.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

The ol' Riverside Annex is an interesting place - a little rough, but wiiiiiide open. Looks like they could stand to get the weed-eater after it... yikes! I was a TAMSCC member during my illustrious year down at Aggieland... good times!

Are y'all going down there the night before, or heading out way before sunup on Sunday?

We will leave early Sunday and return that night. I figure I will have to leave home at 4:30 AM.

jrj512 I think you have a real autocross addiction problem, not only do you go to every event in Dallas now you are driving 3-4 hrs away to get 5 minutes of seat time

I doubt I'll be able to make it. Haven't had all my shots yet.

Dang... I never realized that... I was only actually driving the course for less than 6 minutes yesterday. Lotta money for that!

That is exactly the point. It is not just about your time on the track, but the day as a whole, such as breakfast with everyone where we always cut up, learning a new course as you walk it, the nervousness and anticipation before each run, the high when you pass through the finish after an awesome run, the discussion of technique between each run, watching other driver's techniques as you work the course, and giving each other shit for their times while you wait for trophies.

Fortunately, I already have something on my calendar that day.

Jerrett has a fever and the only way to cure it is autocross.

Lee and I will be there as well! Where are we meeting on the way down?
I learned this the hard way.....

Take all of your valuables out of your car at night. This includes taking the mounting hardware off of your windshield or dash and hiding the power supplies. I lost over $ 1,000 to a thief with no hope of recovering my items and to top if off they smashed my window in the rain and my truck got soaked. Let my loss be your learning experience.

I'm planning on making this trip. McD in Hearne at 7am sounds like a good place to meet.

Looks like I'm out on this one.

A school function the night before may keep me from me from the festivities....
