The control wire in the back has come off.
This morning the front windshield of my 93LE was fogging up a bit and I changed it to windshield defog mode. Now it seems that no matter what function I put it on (face, hands and face, feet and defrost etc) most of the air is blowing up though the vents just below the base of the windshield. The selector doesn't seem to have as much resistance when you move the settings, is it common for some sort of arm/switch to break in the a/c control unit?
Any fixes or write ups to maybe take the center a/c piece out and check what's going on back there?

Don't know if it's the same or helps, but....

Different problem, mine still blows hot air and cold a/c but just only blows it at the windshield, it seems to be stuck on that direction. Did some research and found a PDF, guess the cable for air directional flow control is below the steering column somewhere. I love 14 year old project cars.

So here's the deal, I crawled under the steering wheel and found the lever that the cable is connected to. The problem is that when I start the lever all the way to the left and move the lever underneath then it doesn't do anything. But when I start the lever all the way to the right (windshield defrost) and then toggle the lever underneath that the cable is connected to then it will move left each time I move it back and forth.
As of now I have was able to get it through all the settings and have it on face and feet but I can't get it over to any settings on the right unless I manually move it underneath. I guess that means a new HVAC unit?

Sounds like the control panel, if you can manually move it underneath. Whichever part you need, I've got several......
