Tire class is a good idea, we've always had good attendance and it allows a wide range of cars to compete very closely.
Hey guys!
There's a meeting coming up for the folks involved in the '08 SOWDIV Divisional series. The Divisional Steward, Todd Farris, along with reps. from all the regions will be attending.
I was curious if any of you might have some suggestions for next years series.
A "Tire" class is on the slate for disscusion.
Any other thoughts?

If a tire class was added to the Div series, do you think those competitors would go to the other region's events?
Really depends on where the other events are located. I'm not currently a tire class guy, but I plan to go to Ft. Worth & Houston not sure I'll run in Pearsall.
Just a thought, but ya may want to focus more on the turnouts to each event rather than worry if folks will run all the events. Don't forget the advantage of the locals running the local event will get ya more entrants which gets ya more dollars for the entire series. Plus it may get you repeat offender who may decide later to run the entire series.
Do ya know the tentative schedule yet so I can plug it in my calender.
I would and some die hards like jrj512 even ran the divisional this year in ES on street tires. I think tire class makes the sport affordable and open to a lot more people especially if they feel like they get to play on a big stage like a divisional etc. Travel costs+a fresh set of R comps really adds up and might turn some people off for a 6 run event (just my 2 cents).

There's discussion of additional Div events in Shreveport or Baton Rouge & possibly one in Waco.
You guys think these are close enough for DFW people to attend?
Brad
Strong talk of 4 Divisional events! But only if sites are available.
I would be amazed if there's more than 3.
I suggest:
- 5 location the best of 3: This will get more locals involved and build an interest in traveling.
- Tire Class: sent Todd my ideas on this last year.
- Both S-Port and BR have good locations. S-Port is bigger.
- Add some awards (tshirt) for the ones who attend all 5
Nice to have
- Party the night before the event
- Umbrella girls in the grid
- An omelette and waffle station for breakfast
- Free tire changing
Ken,
What location does Shreveport use currently. It's been a while since I've been out there for an event. Last time I went was the Fairgrounds parking lot.
The guys in that region don't sound to enthusiastic about a Div from what Todd is telling me. I know I had a hard time selling the Tx Region Div on their forum last year.
There's about 5 really serious competitors from that region & they all came to Ft Worth event.
(all I had to tell them was that there was going to be free beer at the parties!)
They use Red River Raceway. It is a good spot for several LA clubs to meet.

Or the Casino in Kinder. Coushatta (sp). Should talk to the SoWeLA group. Casino might be a draw.

FYI. Noticed someone else didn't share the same view on a tire class for divisionals:

Any local location but LaGrave Field I hate that place.

The term hate may have been a little harsh but I don't like it. If it wasn't for the dip that had cars air born at the last event and light poles it would be a great location.

Overall I have to agree with the poster of those comments. This won't be a local event, it's a Divisional. IMO the classes at Divs, Tours and Pros need to mirror Nats classes. That's what Divs, Tours and Pros are for. As for people who desire to run street tires they can still enter their appropriate open class, just as they could if they wanted to run street tires at Nats.
