Hope to see the Lotus and your kid one day soon. I guess you'll probably have to tag along too.![]()
As some of you remember, I was awaiting the arrival of a refurbished '67 lotus elan some time ago. Everything is now in process. As my father moves from Seattle to the mountains of Mexico, he will be stopping through these parts for a visit...and to leave behind the lotus- for safe keeping. Planned arrival is middle of January.
It is a track car, I am expected to put it on the track. Hopefully, the miata folks will allow a fellow 2-seat driver to accompany them on a periodic track day at MSR. Maybe it will see an autoX or two. The boy is up and walking now and would enjoy a visit to the track to see all the cars.
Hope to see you guys soon.![]()

Sounds cool. Looking forward to seeing you at an AX.
Post some pics when it arrives.
OMG, the Elan is one of my dream cars next to the Elise... I can't wait to see it. They're so pretty![]()

Update- part II-
The lotus (and Dad) arrived last Tuesday night- A 36 hour drive from Seattle that took him 8 days- nice and relaxing pace. The car arrived mostly without incident. The nylon cover over the car flapped (and rubbed) at the corners and bumbers. Some parts rubbed down to the fiberglass. Other parts just got into the paint a little. Its too bad, but things happen.
Drove the car yesterday. Damn its small. A miata is now the big car. 143 hp and 1500 lbs- it moves pretty good, but you have to stand on the brakes. It is also very low-tech. I guess that is its beauty.
I will post some pics soon. I also expect to make a track day or 2 this year. See you soon.
Joe
Wow, it looks like new! I am sure you can repaire the paint and keep it in "new" condidtion. For the brake, I guess a brake pad or two will fix it.
