    Default Annoying Beeps

Maybe you guys can help... I have a 1990 NA. When I started the car this morning there was a strange beeping sound I had not heard before. It sounded like the back up alarm on a large truck... There were no indicator lights on my dash for the seat belt, brake, check engine, or airbag. Tried to turn the car off and restart but the beeping persisted... The whole 30miles or so to work.

Any ideas or thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Did ya close your door?

Sounds like the Airbag module although you would have thought it would have kicked a light on?

My guess is burnt out airbag light.

Was the airbag light blinking before? Has it ever flashed? Does it come on when you start it?

The airbag light was not blinking, and I have never seen it flash. When you move the key to the on position all four of the lights in the middle of the dash illuminate ( seatbelt light, check engine, air bag, and brake).

Well that eliminates a burned out airbag bulb. AFAIK that module is the only thing in the dash that's going to beep like that though.

Speaking of annoying sounds. How do you kill the buzzing sound when the door is open?

It's easy. But don't be like me and start locking your keys in the car.

I unplugged the buzzer from under the dash. Very annoying when you are workng on your stereo or door speakers.

Just an update but the noise was gone during the return trip from work. Maybe the little box lost its marbles and found them while parked at work. Thank you all for your input. I think I might just try to pull all of that stuff out when I get a new wheel.
