I built one this past summer. What software are you using for TV listings and controlling your recordings? I use BeyondTV and have been very happy with it.
Just built one, and I really enjoy it, have a Core Duo CPU, 500gig HD, Blu Ray DVD, dual HVR 1800 tuners, RF wireless keyboard with a trackball and finally got ahold of an 8800GT card.
Am locked into DTV for another 9 months or so, but will swap over to cable once that contract expires and use the HTPC to replace my DTV/Tivo unit with no Tivo fees.
To do list: carpet X1, seatcovers X1

I used Vista Home Premium, with it's built in guide, it's not as slick as Tivo, but with no monthly fee, I'm not going to complain too loudly.
The Blu Ray movies are really sharp, wish the players were cheaper though, I'm not going to buy another until they get a lot cheaper.

I have thought of doing one myself but on a Linux route instead of Windows. I was going to use a Shuttle case (http://us.shuttle.com/barebone/BareboneHome.html) and experiment with using a Wii remote as a mouse. My main twist to this is to use a ~1TB+ file server to store movies.
But for the time being, I don't have the cash to try.

This CB built his second one in 2006. The first was in 2002. Still have the original keyboard like yours with a trackball, it's a gem. Except it is IR, not RF. Still works!
Can you run this to multiple rooms in a house?
If so how do you control your HTPC?
