I need a replacement speaker for my 1999 AE - will yours work? The passenger speaker sounds terrible! I could meet you in Addison - you can send me an email at [email protected]. Thanks!
Just completed the Bosectomy. I have the head unit, cassette deck w/cable, and big speakers for sale. I will give the little speakers to whoever wants to come and get them. I'd like to get $10 for the head unit or cassette unit, or $15 for both, and $10 for both big speakers. All prices are negotiable, make an offer if interested. I'll be working overnight in Addison from Thursday to Wednesday if you'd like to pick them up there, or I we can make arrangements for a south Fort Worth pickup, or drop-off somewhere between south Fort Worth and Addison.

I'll take it all if you still have it
Blah blah blah!
MiataMike,
cArAzzIE has first dibs on the big speakers. Do you want the head unit and cassette player without the speakers? What about the little speakers? The connectors for them would have to be resoldered, but I still have them.
Thanks,
Mike

I may still be interested in some of it. Let me know what all you have left afterwards
Blah blah blah!
All that is spoken for are the big speakers. The head unit, cassette player, and (free) small speakers still available. Should I bring the rest to work with me? I work in Addison, 6pm to 6am through Wednesday.

cArAzzIE,
You can listen to mine (post bosectomy) while I replace your speaker.
Or, if you are curious as to the why and how, check out http://www.mikewalsted.com/MiataSound.html and http://www.mikewalsted.com/bosectomy.html

Big speakers are now in a better looking car than mine. (Thanks, cArAzzIE!) The head unit, cassette, and small speakers are still available and with me.

Yep Yep! Big speakers gone....don't know about being in a better looking car though! That fixed the problem I was having....
THANK YOU!!
Sorry to other interested parties, but I didn't take everything!!
Thanks for everything Mike - I can listen to my radio now! Maybe down the road I'll get the peerless, I did like your idea of the marine grade speakers for sure!!
When I replaced the tweeters with the Aurasound, the improvement was really noticeable. Madisound is out of the Aurasound at the moment, but the Peerless 2" speakers look to have a better response curve and larger frequency range. If you are pleased with the way your system sounds, the money for the tweeters could be spent on a fill-up or two. If not, and you aren't going for a full bosectomy, decent 2-inch full range speakers in that spot makes a good patch.
As far as marine speakers, the Bose speakers are 1/2 ohm, and marine speakers are usually around 4 ohm, so the marine speakers wouldn't have much volume with the Bose head unit. That leads to the slippery slope down (or up) to a total bosectomy - putting in Marine speakers gives you an excuse to get a different head unit, maybe with Bluetooth so it would work with your cell phone, and a few other goodies such as USB, Ipod, and/or aux connections as well. I went the other way - put in the head unit and cheap speakers I had around the house, and now I'm looking for drop-in speakers with a 92dB sensitivity that won't sound bad when it's cold or moist out.
