If this does come to be real, I know I would be buying one for a track day car.
According to this Autoblog article, after three generations Mazda might finally be considering a production MX-5 Coupe (not to be confused with the extremely limited edition, hand-built, JDM only NB Coupes that were produced back in ’03).
I for one would love to see it. However, I wonder how the marketing wags at Mazda would try to spin it? It would be hard to place it at the top of the MX-5 range against the PRHT, which offers the benefits of being both a coupe and a roadster. Maybe as a true stripped down “Sport” model?
I’d love to see an MX-5 Coupe with a 2.0L direct-injected turbo engine. Maybe even a 16X Renesis (insert smartass rotary engine comment here )? RX-5, anyone?
