To area rally enthusiasts:

A training session for prospective rallymasters will be held in Irving, on Saturday afternoon, the 23rd of February. The school is open to SCCA members and non-members. Topics will include course safety, insurance, rally types, choosing start, finish, and checkpoint locations, route instruction types, attracting entrants, scoring, finances, typical paperwork, etc. TSD ("Time, Speed, Distance") rallying will be mentioned, but not taught.

The event will be held at Spring Creek Barbeque, 3514 West Airport Freeway (SH183) in Irving. They are on the southwest quadrant of the freeway at Belt Line Road. It will begin at 2pm, in their small meeting room. I expect to be through by 4pm; I will teach the topics more or less in the order of importance, so if you have to leave early, you should still be prepared to do a simple event. There will be a question-and-answer session at the end.

Anyone who has enjoyed an auto rally should consider coming. Even if you never actually put on your own event, you will be a more successful rally competitor if you understand how an event is created. Please RSVP to [email protected]. There will be some handouts, but be prepared to take notes.
