I had never heard of clamato so I had to do a search. It appears that this clam juice and tomato drink is considered the national cocktail of Canada, and it is very common to mix it with beer up there.

Don't knock it tell ya try it - a Michelada beer is quite tasty if you mix it up right! Sort of the poor vato's bloody mary...

Yea, I agree those budwiser mixes are nasty, but the real micheladas are surprisingly really good. You can get them from good authentic Mexican restaurants.

The only mix that I know of is only sold in Mexico, but I got a recipe from yahoo answers. I have worked for years with a couple of guys from Mexico, and now I make better micheladas than they do.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...5194612AA0LJKj

1/2 lime, preferably a Key lime
    Coarse salt
    2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
    1 dash soy sauce
    1 dash Tabasco sauce
    1 pinch black pepper
    1 dash Maggi seasoning, optional
12 ounces beer, preferably a dark Mexican beer like Negra Modelo.

    • Squeeze the juice from the lime and reserve. Salt the rim of a highball glass by rubbing it with the lime and dipping it in coarse salt. Fill with ice.
    • Add lime juice, Worcestershire, soy sauce, Tabasco, pepper and Maggi, if desired.
    • Pour in beer, stir and serve, adding more beer as you sip.

I'm speechless. I don't like american beer but I don't think it needs to be punished with Clamato. That gives me shivers.
