Default Brand new 2 me 94 Miata

Several years ago I happened to see a Solo event going on at Pennington field and it has been in the back of my mind since then. However, being a biker, I thought "that's cool, it's to bad it's not on motorcycles". Last fall my bike threw me into the giggle weeds and I tore my rotator cuff, so the doctor said "you're 52, no more sport bikes". Well after moping all winter I happened upon a Miata on ebay and got the bug to go and look at it. I was hooked and the sale of the wrecked bike just covered the price of the Miata. I can't wait to start dodging cones. As far as I can tell the car is stock except for Bilstien shocks and I bought a set of Falken Azenis for it. Any suggestions what to do next or who to hang with at which autocross event? Thanks and glad to meet all yall.

Nice looking car! By the Bilsteins and the rear spoiler, it looks like it might be an R package... perfect for Auto-X!

There's something going on in Auto-X about every weekend now, and there are weekly get togethers... so just keep an eye on the boards, and I'm sure you'll find your way around.

Here's the link to the Auto-X calendar...

The picture is from the ebay listing. The bra went in the trash the first day! The previous owner was using it to hold the chin together, it was broken in two places. Looks like he hit a curb. Anyway that's all fixed now and the paint still looks pretty good although there was a lot of sand under the bra of course. I kinda treated it like a new girl friend, I couldn't wait to see what was under the bra. There were not any pieces missing so I just glued it all back together and I am going to install a chin spoiler to help stiffen up the repair.

    Manual steering and crank windows?

    I'd put money on a R-Pack.

Awesome score, just add a swaybar and get some seat time.

Yep, Crank steering and manual windows. Or is it the other way round. Wouldn't know how to tell if it's an R-Pack or not. The car is pretty basic, no cruise or any bells and whistles and has a factory bar running between the seat belt posts if that helps. Does have A/C that works good.

No frills, front and rear spoilers, bilstins, manual everything, that sounds like an R package, which is the ideal miata for E stock autocrossing! Nice find!

If this is an R package, be careful what you modify. It is always a shame to see an R package where someone has nullified its point of being -- SCCA stock class autocrossing.

You guys got me all shook up with all the R package talk so I been searching the internet for details and looking at the car. It has all the options listed for the R package and none of the trim features for the trim packages, so I guess it really is an R. It does not have the R chin lip but it was probably broken off when the chin damage I just finished repairing was done. Whew! OEM plastic parts are PRICEY. But I got one on the way! Thanks for the heads up and stock class it is.

Welcome and congrats on the car! I bought my first Miata (on 2nd one now) when I sold my last motorcycle. Look for the gaggle of Miata's at any autocross.

FYI - I don't think you can run STS2 if you have an R-package because that came with a Torsen limited slip. You'll probably end up in ES (E Stock).

I know the R package didn't include A/C but I think that it might have been an option so it might be an R. Check the rear for the rear under spoiler lip thing attached to the bumper

Welcome to the forums! You can call Mazda USA for a VIN check to see if it's truely a R pack. If you later on decided to modify the car behind stock class, be sure to keep all the stock parts so you could return it to stock form.
