Thread: Universal Remotes

    Default Universal Remotes

Anyone have a recommendation? We are tired of keeping up with all the remotes. Want to control TV, Direct TV box, Home Theater in a Box, VCR, etc...

I'd like something easy to program and affordable so I can get one for the living room and bedroom.

I also want to know. One more feature I am looking for is it will NOT lose the programing when change batteries.

The main feature that I like on mine is the learning function. It allows you to program for remotes that you dont have codes for. My remote came with my onkyo receiver, so I don't have any recommendations about specific remotes sorry.

A while back I had a nice little Sony universal - it controlled the TV, stereo receiver, DVD, and cable box. It was cheap, simple, and easy to use, but it must have tasted like bacon because my dog ate it... and I never found the batteries.

But seriously, I think I got it at Best Buy... it was a slim remote no bigger than the one for my DVD player, and it would switch functions on my receiver, control the volume on the receiver, change the channels on the cable box, and control the DVD player.

    Slim 'n' tasty.

I currently have a remote that looks something like this...

    http://www.electronicadventure.us/rc23.htm

and a blue one I can't find on the internet.

Both are for Direct TV and both have limited universal capabilities.

Right now they are toys for my 2 year old and I would be willing to part with them for $0.
