If the system is low on freon, the compressor and fan will never come on. By a bunch or AC O rings, replace everyone you can get to, and add a can or 2 of freon. Worked for me.
Is my compressor gone to heaven? The compressor does not come on, nether is the 2nd fan of the radiator, nor the engine idle RPM increases!![]()
I checked the fuses and both are good (the driver side and the under the hood).
The last time it worked was a couple days ago. It was strange that the idle RPM went all the way to almost 2K. The normal idle RPM was between 7-9K and was 1.2K when the AC is on.
This is a 99 and the AC has never been serviced. Any idea what is wrong? Who to take it to to get it fixed (I live in the east of the Dallas county line).
Thanks,
Gabriel

Low R134, pressure switch shuts system down.
Easy fix, but the trigger cans are not the way.
R134 is sensitive to over/under pressure, and while it may work, it will not be efficient when it gets hot.
Get it done right with proper gauges.
Technicare in Dallas did a first rate job on my ram. He has a chemical sniffer that will tell him exactly where the leak is at.
I found the leak while I was recharging the system! There is a hole in the tubing in front of the AC radiator that I can see from the "mouth". One end of this tubing seems to welded to the AC radiator! I guess I have find another a AC radiator?!
Anyone has one for the NB gathering dust? Can I just replace the radiator and the connecting tubing and than recharge the system? Or, there is more things I have to do???
Gabriel
can you still get freon? I now have 2 miatas that suffer from "cool" ac temps, and don't know how to work on the ac system aside from removing it.

Yep, I just bought two cans off of ebay for my 92. I'm not doing another summer with no A/C. I miss the good ole days when it was five bucks a can but it's a lot cheaper on ebay now than it was the last time I bought it at an auto parts place.
Anybody know where I can rent vac pump to evac the system?
