Thread: Summer Vacation!

  1. #1

    Question Summer Vacation!

So with my kid only having a few short weeks remaining in school we have been talking about taking a vacation. We are currently thinking of heading up to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky and few stops in that part of the US.

Where are you headed this summer??

I'm going to take two week and drive all the way around Loop 12.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Looks like I'm going to head home to Alabama and go to my 20 year high school reunion... not sure exactly WHY, but that's my plan.. If I can convince Kate we need to take the S, I might head up to Tennessee and see if the Police are still watching the Dragon as closely as I've heard they are.

After we finish the house, we are planning to go to Banff, or back to Maine. Whichever has the better last minute vacations.

If any one is going to the Caribbean look at these price... http://www.worryfreevacations.com/sp...=18&ignore.y=8
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

Barbara and I are going to "Deals Gap" for MatG, then up the east coast to see some sights. (7/26ish)
I'd like to catch all the Aviation Museums like the Hazy and USS Yorktown.
We also plan to go see the Cape Hatteras Light while we can.

Anyone else going to "The Gap"!

We're taking a week and going to visit the in-laws in Grand Lake, Colorado in July.

The has been dropping hints about taking a cruise for our upcoming 25th anniversary.

I was thinking of surprising her with a "cruise" down the Comal river. Imagine the look on her face when we pull up to rent our inner tubes at the outfitters.

Thanks for the link Ataim, I might try one of those trips instead.

I assume you mean Udvar-Hazy? Highly recommend it. I remember watching them fly in the SR-71 long before the museum went up.

It's never a vacation, but I'm flying out to Albuquerque to hang out with family for a few days in June.

Several trips to the in-laws lake house. Trina and I may take a weekend trip in the Miata. We're considering the Hill Country again.

Triena and I took a Cruise on Royal Caribbean last year on the Voyager of the Seas. We liked most of the criuse, but neither of are big drinkers or gamblers so we had lots of "idle" time. At Cozumel and Costa Maya we had only 9 hours not nearly enough time to shop, scuba, shop, lay on the beach.

We would rather fly in and spend plenty of time on shore.

We love going to Cozumel, especially in December. We always fly, the weather is in the mid-80s, stay 3 nights at an all-inclusive (El Cozumeleno), and all for $1100-1500, depending on the deals available at the time (that includes airfare for two, hotel, and inclusive meals). Snorkle one day, rent a Jeep and drive the perimiter of the island another day (stopping for a drink at each beach-side bar), and spend one day just hanging out.
