in 1973 I hit the street with a 1965 Corvair I got for $100 (drag it out of my yard kind of deal) with a 350hp 327 using the Crown kit
street legal and drove it about 30,000 miles while I owned it
mid-engined using the Saginaw 4 speed
same motor as the then current vettes, and only 2650#
much better power-to-weight than the then current vettes other than a big block
drum brakes all around, radials of any size were just becoming available, so traction wasn't so great
I had a lot of fun with that car
ran autocross for 9 years with it, and 13.2 in the quarter mile and drove it to work about half the time

I did it simply because it has never been done before. Its not intended for drag, its not intended for cornering, its just a fun cruising car. Everyone does V8 conversions, I just couldnt get motivated about building something everyone else already has. The V12 was choosen for looks and elegance. Mounted to the motor is a custom bellhousing which bolts up a T-5 ford transmission and clutch which should make the car sporty in the city but still able to cruise the highways with overdrive. By the way V12's are one of the smoothest running motors in the world, and balance themselves out, hence the reason the cranks don't need to be balance. Sitting in the car, other then the noise you cant tell the motor is even running. Very smooth, and the sound of cylinders firing every 30 crank degrees is awesome.
